Wang\u2019s mention by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/baidus-electric-vehicle-firm-jidu-unveils-first-robot-car-2022-06-08\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> was in a June 2022, story of Jidu developing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-tesla-gears-up-for-fully-self-driving-cars-amid-skepticism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">self-driving concept car<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When he left Apple on April 16, 2018, \u201cApple identified Wang as having accessed large amounts of sensitive proprietary and confidential information in the days leading up to his departure from Apple,\u201d according to the U.S. attorney\u2019s office news release.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Wang Weibao, Head of Autonomous Driving at Jidu, resigns. Two weeks ago, the ex-Apple engineer was accused of stealing Apple\u2019s self-driving tech and taking it to a Baidu-backed automaker. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vUcgR2M2T9\">pic.twitter.com\/vUcgR2M2T9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CarNewsChina.com (@CarNewsChina) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CarNewsChina\/status\/1663529005675421697?\">May 30, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nAlso, after departing Apple and while employed apparently at Jidu, authorities said Wang accessed more of Apple\u2019s confidential information.<\/p>\n<p>A June 27, 2018, search of Wang\u2019s Mountain View, California, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-tech-giant-hired-apparent-chinese-spy-and-gave-him-vast-access-to-databases-now-hes-disappeared\/\" title=\"US tech giant hired Chinese spy, granted extensive database access - now missing.\">residence found \u201clarge quantities<\/a> of data taken from Apple prior to his departure,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWang was present during the search and told agents he had not plans to travel. Nevertheless, Wang purchased a one-way plane ticket from San Francisco International Airport to Guangzhou, China, and boarded the flight that night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The indictment contains six categories of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doc-foreign-student-visa-holder-tried-to-leave-us-with-sensitive-military-intel\/\" title=\"Doc: Foreign Student Visa Holder Tried To Leave US With Sensitive Military Intel\">trade secret theft<\/a> and, if found guilty, Wang could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and fined $250,000 or \u201ctwice the gross gain or loss resulting from the scheme\u201d for each count.<\/p>\n<p>With Wang apparently in China, the charges were made in absentia, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Top_News\/US\/2023\/05\/16\/former-apple-employee-charged-stealing-trade-secrets-china\/6861684260937\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UPI reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-ex-ge-engineer-charged-with-stealing-trade-secrets-for-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">industrial espionage<\/a> \u2014 perhaps not as exciting as movie spy adventures \u2014 can get things to places <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-trump-admin-takes-action-chinese-espionage-american-universities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not friendly to the U.S.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And there are other ways.<\/p>\n<p>As in when then-President Barack Obama told Congress in 2015 of his administration beginning talks with China about providing them access to U.S. nuclear data, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/obama-just-made-a-quiet-nuclear-deal-with-china-2015-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Insider<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Or President Bill Clinton selling missile technology to China as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/capitalresearch.org\/article\/flashback-bill-clinton-gave-china-missile-technology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Capital Research<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Then there\u2019s President Joe Biden and his family.
