Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on Friday, Weiss stated that the Justice Department did not retaliate against any IRS official \u201cfor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-report-reveals-what-fbi-did-to-employees-who-spoke-out-against-politicized-rot\/\" title=\"FBI punished employees who spoke out against 'politicized rot': House report.\">making protected disclosures<\/a> to Congress,\u201d and that he thought he could file charges outside his home district if the investigation leads in that direction.<\/p>\n<p>Weiss did not directly address claims that he was barred from filing charges outside of his home district in the letter, but still insisted that he has been given \u201cultimate authority\u201d over the Hunter Biden investigation, \u201cincluding responsibility for deciding where, when, and whether to file charges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further stated that he has \u201cbeen assured\u201d that he will be granted the necessary special power to bring charges \u201cin the District of Columbia, the Central District of California, or any other district where charges could be brought in this matter.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/2023-06-22-jdj-to-david-weiss-re-irs-whistleblower-retaliation.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Weiss\u2019 letter<\/a> was in reaction to Jordan\u2019s letter the week before, in which Jordan accused Weiss of refusing to engage with the committee and called his reasoning \u201cunpersuasive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Weiss contested Jordan\u2019s claims in his letter, stating that he is unable to offer proof or address any specific questions concerning Hunter Biden since the inquiry is still pending.<\/p>\n<p>Weiss also hinted that he might be able to deliver some kind of testimony before the committee.<\/p>\n<p>The United States Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Delaware declined to comment.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cAt the appropriate time, I welcome the opportunity to discuss these topics with the Committee in more detail, and answer questions related to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/prosecutor-in-hunter-biden-criminal-case-releases-letter-on-two-issues\/\" title=\"Prosecutor in Hunter Biden case addresses 'two matters' in released letter.\">whistleblowers\u2019 allegations consistent<\/a> with the law and Department policy,\u201d Weiss wrote<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Stay informed!
