At 80 years old, many Republicans and Democrats believe that the president is not up to the domestic and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/national-poll-says-biden-is-americas-least-popular-president-in-70-years\/\" title=\"Biden ranks as America's least popular president in 70 years, says national poll.\">geopolitical challenges facing<\/a> the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Advocates of the current administration often claim that Biden is &#8220;still more popular than Trump,&#8221; but the data does not support this. In fact, Biden&#8217;s popularity slipped below former President Donald Trump&#8217;s after his first year in office, according to a June analysis.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Nothing But A Number<\/h2>\n<p>Addressing widespread concern over Biden&#8217;s advanced age and mental faculties, White House physician Kevin O&#8217;Connor released a presidential health summary in February that declared the current head of state &#8220;fit for duty.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, only a minority of Americans are buying it. Polling data paints a stark picture of how Americans feel about the current administration.<\/p>\n<p>A recent Yahoo\/YouGov survey revealed that an overwhelming 67 percent of voters, including 48 percent of Democrats, think Biden is too old for a second term. Furthermore, just 35 percent believe Vice President Kamala Harris is qualified to step into Biden&#8217;s shoes if necessary.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5285856\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/05\/23\/id5285856-GettyImages-1232872290-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tVice President Kamala Harris hosts the inaugural meeting of the Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment in Washington on May 13, 2021. (Nicholas Kamm\/AFP via Getty Images)<br \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n<p>By comparison, only 42 percent expressed the same age concerns over Trump&#8217;s 2024 election bid, despite the two leaders being only three years apart.<\/p>\n<p>Throwing a can of gas onto the &#8220;age&#8221; controversy, the former White House physician to Trump and Barack Obama\u2014Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas)\u2014told Sky News reporters in May that Biden&#8217;s cognitive decline is &#8220;terrifying to watch.&#8221; Jackson followed that statement with comments in June declaring Biden wasn&#8217;t physically or mentally fit to be president.<\/p>\n<p>Regular Americans share Jackson&#8217;s angst over what some say is a noticeable decline in Biden&#8217;s cognitive abilities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not just his age. He&#8217;s clearly showing signs of dementia,&#8221; Sharon Smith told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p>Like many Americans with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/left-leaning-u2-frontman-bono-admits-entrepreneurial-capitalism-is-the-off-ramp-out-of-extreme-poverty\/\" title=\"Left-Leaning U2 Frontman Bono Admits \u2018Entrepreneurial Capitalism\u2019 Is \u2018The Off-Ramp Out Of Extreme Poverty\u2019\">left-leaning political views<\/a>, Smith voted for Biden because her preferred candidate didn&#8217;t have enough support to gain the Democratic Party nomination.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He wasn&#8217;t Trump. That&#8217;s the only reason most people I know voted for him. It was never because we wanted Biden,&#8221; Smith said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5369818\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/07\/02\/id5369818-Trump-GettyImages-1379287917-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tFormer President Donald Trump reacts to crowd applause during a campaign event in Pickens, S.C., on July 1, 2023. (Sean Rayford\/Getty Images)<br \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n<p>Long-time Twin Cities resident Smith also said she didn&#8217;t consider voting independent an option in 2020. At the time, she considered it a &#8220;throw-away&#8221; vote, but now Smith is reconsidering as the 2024 election approaches.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Here&#8217;s the thing, you vote independent, and you throw your vote away. But you don&#8217;t really have any other good options,&#8221; Smith said, adding, &#8220;It depends on who runs on the independent this time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She also said age isn&#8217;t her only concern with having Biden in office for a second term. &#8220;He just isn&#8217;t effective. People walk all over him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Underscoring this, a top Moscow official openly accused Biden of having impaired mental faculties in May when asked about the upcoming U.S. presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, told reporters: &#8220;The only thing that matters is that a guy with dementia is not elected.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Regarding Biden&#8217;s bid for a second term, a Chicago area resident who preferred to be identified by his first name, Gavin, told The Epoch Times, &#8220;He&#8217;s not inspiring. He&#8217;s super inconsequential.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Gavin is normally a Democrat voter but, like Smith, fears the 2024 election will come down to what he called the &#8220;best worst option&#8221; of candidates.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if he thought Biden represents the views of the majority of left-wing voters, Gavin was blunt. &#8220;No. I think he&#8217;s a good Washington insider. He&#8217;s good at not getting in anyone&#8217;s way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Dollars And Cents<\/h2>\n<p>For some on the political Left, soaring inflation under Biden has been the final straw.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously age is the No. 1 factor. Second to that, Biden inherited a covid economy. The inflation has been really high,&#8221; Lisa Carley Hotaling told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<p>As a former California resident and educator, Hotaling has endured some of the worst of the nation&#8217;s inflation. She said where she lived near San Francisco, the price of eggs climbed as high as $9 per dozen last year.<\/p>\n<p>Combined with the existing high cost of living and the pandemic, inflation expedited the ongoing exodus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>with a disappointing President Biden.
