Elenis<\/em><\/a>, the Court cited the First Amendment in ruling that Lorie Smith could not be forced by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/activists-seek-to-resuscitate-1972-equal-rights-amendment\/\" title=\"Activists Seek to Resuscitate 1972 Equal Rights Amendment\">state civil rights law<\/a> to design websites that run counter to her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-marine-corps-commanders-using-form-letter-to-deny-religious-exemptions\/\" title=\"Exclusive: Marine Corps Commanders Using Form Letter to Deny Religious Exemptions\">sincerely-held religious beliefs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union\u201d with host Dana Bash, Christie was asked about his stance on the ruling.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI stand with Justice Gorsuch,\u201d Christie said. \u201cLook, and the thing that\u2019s bad about the dissenting opinion is that it mischaracterizes the decision. This business has no right not to serve people of a protected class. But, by the same token, the government doesn\u2019t have the right to tell a business the nature of how they need to use their expressive abilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Christie expressed concern over the misrepresentation of the ruling, stating that the business in question cannot deny LGBTQ individuals or couples from accessing their services. However, they cannot be compelled to create content that goes against their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senator-grassley-and-others-discuss-personal-faith-at-senate-hearing-on-equality-act\/\" title=\"Senator Grassley And Others Discuss Personal Faith At Senate Hearing On Equality Act\">personal religious beliefs<\/a>. He criticized the Democratic Party for only supporting Supreme Court decisions that align with their preferred ideology, and emphasized the importance of protecting First Amendment rights for all individuals, regardless of their political affiliation.<\/p>\n<p>Christie then specifically addressed Justice Sotomayor&#8217;s comments regarding the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chris-christie-torches-justice-sonia-sotomayor-over-dissent-in-christian-web-designer-case\/\" title=\"Chris Christie slams Justice Sotomayor for dissent in Christian web designer case.\">potential broader implications<\/a> of the decision.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLook, what Sonia Sotomayor, the justice, Sotomayor, was saying in her opinion was that they could \u2014 that this decision could be used to deny people of LGBTQ backgrounds the ability to access this business. That\u2019s simply not true,\u201d he said. \u201cThey can access this business. They can access this business. They just can\u2019t force the owner to do something that is against her personal religious beliefs. And so if they want to come in and they want a web design for their business, they want a web design for a charity, they want a web design for anything else that they\u2019re doing, they could certainly do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Christie dismissed Sotomayor&#8217;s claim as an attempt to incite controversy, asserting that the decision is narrow in scope and does not impede LGBTQ individuals from accessing the business&#8217;s services.
