Both have been charged with conspiracy and obstruction of law enforcement, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-wdpa\/pr\/two-pittsburgh-residents-indicted-charges-conspiracy-and-obstruction-law-enforcement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">according<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to a U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office news release. Brian DiPippa was additionally charged with using an explosive to commit a federal felony.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe DiPippas participated in a protest at the O\u2019Hara Student Center on the University of Pittsburgh campus, at which time Brian DiPippa ignited and dropped two homemade smoke bomb containers in and around a line of persons waiting to enter the O\u2019Hara Student Center to attend a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/two-protesters-from-michael-knowles-pitt-debate-on-transgenderism-indicted\/\" title=\"Two protesters indicted after Michael Knowles' transgenderism debate at Pitt.\">scheduled event featuring guest speakers<\/a>,\u201d the release <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-wdpa\/pr\/two-pittsburgh-residents-indicted-charges-conspiracy-and-obstruction-law-enforcement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u201cThe Indictment further alleges that, when Pitt Police officers gathered and formed a barrier to prevent the protesters from entering the rear of the building, Brian DiPippa, concealed by his wife, Krystal DiPippa, ignited and threw a large explosive firework into the group of Pitt officers, causing a loud explosion and injuries to several officers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The charges of conspiracy and obstruction of law enforcement come with a maximum of 10 years in prison, a $500,000 fine, or both. Using an explosive to commit a federal felony carries a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-washington-blm-alliance-begins-lobbying-state-legislature-demands-gov-inslee-declare-racism-a-public-health-crisis\/\" title=\"New \u2018Washington BLM Alliance\u2019 Begins Lobbying State Legislature, Demands Gov. Inslee Declare Racism A Public Health Crisis\">mandatory minimum sentence<\/a> of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In reaction to the charges, Knowles <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/michaeljknowles\/status\/1675237303734747138?s=46&#038;t=y4YkrOT86oHdXG1HCmsfMQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a>, \u201cVery pleased to see the FBI arrest a couple of the anarchists who set off an explosive at one of my campus events this semester!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On April 18, Michael Knowles <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/should-transgenderism-be-regulated-by-law-michael-knowles-debates-trans-issues-at-pitt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">participated<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in a debate at the University of Pittsburgh with libertarian journalist Brad Polumbo, titled \u201cShould transgenderism be regulated by law?\u201d Polumbo was a last-minute substitute, as the original opponent, transgender-identifying University of Illinois-Chicago professor Deirdre McCloskey, canceled. The original event between Knowles and McCloskey was scheduled as a discussion of \u201cTransgenderism and Womanhood,\u201d more generally, however, the topic was changed to a discussion on policy after McCloskey dropped out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/should-transgenderism-be-regulated-by-law-michael-knowles-debates-trans-issues-at-pitt\/\" title=\"\u2018Should Transgenderism Be Regulated By Law?\u2019: Michael Knowles Debates Trans Issues At Pitt\">event faced considerable backlash<\/a> as 11,000 individuals signed a petition for the event\u2019s cancellation. Knowles was also shouted at multiple times during his remarks, with protesters chanting \u201ctrans rights are human rights.\u201d As previously <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/knowles-unfazed-as-pro-trans-protesters-bid-to-disrupt-pitt-debate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> by The Daily Wire, hundreds of protesters were gathered outside of the event when it was reported that an \u201cincendiary device\u201d was set off.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere they are,\u201d an unfazed Knowles quipped. \u201cThat sounds like they\u2019ve gotten into harmony. It\u2019s not even melody anymore.
