Families could qualify for debt forgiveness if they made $250,000 a year or less.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As many as 40 million borrowers could have found relief under the plan, with the cost to taxpayers figured at about $400 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPresident Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/budget-watchdog-warns-biden-student-loan-debt-bailout-could-cost-up-to-600-billion\/\" title=\"Budget Watchdog Warns Biden Student Loan Debt Bailout Could Cost Up to 0 Billion\">student loan giveaway<\/a> is ruled UNLAWFUL. The 87% of Americans without student loans are no longer forced to pay for the 13% who do,\u201d House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) tweeted.\u00a0 \u201cThis builds on the Fiscal Responsibility Act\u2019s end to the payment pause. The President must follow the law.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5296637\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/05\/28\/id5296637-Kevin-McCarthy-GettyImages-1258245918-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York left-wing congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), who caucuses with the Democrats, didn\u2019t like the Supreme Court decision, but she also doesn\u2019t think the fight is over on the issue, and the Biden administration has other options to cancel student debt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AOC tweeted: \u201cIt is very important to note this SCOTUS ruling does NOT remove Biden\u2019s ability to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/different-sides-of-the-egregious-coin-republicans-and-democrats-react-to-supreme-court-student-loan-decision\/\" title=\"Republicans and Democrats respond to Supreme Court student loan ruling from opposing perspectives.\">pursue student loan forgiveness<\/a>. The Biden Admin can use the HEA (Higher Ed Act) \u2013 our position from the start \u2013 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/aoc-rips-supreme-court-for-putting-rulings-up-for-sale\/\" title=\"AOC slams Supreme Court for 'selling rulings'\">continue loan forgiveness<\/a> before payments resume. They should do so ASAP.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5368903\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/06\/01\/id5368903-GettyImages-1494869181-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky found favour with the ruling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe President of the United States cannot hijack twenty-year-old emergency powers to pad the pockets of his high-earning base and make suckers out of working families who choose not to take on student debt,\u201d said McConnell in a release his office issued.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Court\u2019s decision today deals a heavy blow to Democrats\u2019 distorted and outsized view of executive power.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5273339\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/05\/17\/id5273339-05162023-DSC02576-Mitch-McConnell-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<h2><b>Free Speech Victory<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The majority ruled that the First Amendment prohibited Colorado\u2019s Lorie Smith, an evangelical Christian, and her website design business, 303 Creative, from being forced to design a site for a same-sex wedding.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The decision holds consequences for anti-discrimination laws across the nation and also answers a question as to whether the government can compel artists to create and develop messages and forms of expression that are contrary to their religious beliefs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Members of the LGBT community, and their advocates, take particular exception to, and find particularly worrisome, the court\u2019s decision; for, even though the practice of religion has fallen precipitously in the country, there is still a solid sector in America that follow and adhere to religious beliefs that do not support lifestyles within the LGBT population.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5368907\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/07\/01\/id5368907-GettyImages-1447777307-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.)\u2014the first openly lesbian to serve in the U.S. Senate\u2014had problems with the SCOTUS decision.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis is about fairness and freedom\u2014about whether LGBTQ+ Americans deserve fairness and freedom to be treated just like everyone else,\u201d said Baldwin in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt is simply wrong to discriminate against any American based on who they are or who they love, and Americans agree.
