This represents a major shift from last year\u2019s midterm elections when most Republicans campaigned on traditional themes such as the economy and crime. Despite predictions of a \u201cred wave,\u201d Republicans failed to win the Senate majority and barely eked out control of the House.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like they didn\u2019t learn the lesson,\u201d American Principle Project (AAP) policy director Jon Schweppe told The Daily Wire. \u201cObviously [gender ideology] should be a wedge issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The GOP\u2019s underwhelming performance last year could have 2024 candidates looking to a pair of Republican governors who have leaned into protecting children in the culture war, Florida\u2019s Ron DeSantis and Virginia\u2019s Glenn Youngkin.<\/p>\n<p>Schweppe, who co-authored a report proposing to amend the Communications Decency Act to protect free speech and defend children, said his group has succeeded with super PAC ads targeted at persuadable independent and Democrat voters.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s also an issue that animates voters that they seem to very much care about,\u201d he said. \u201cRather than the past messaging that the GOP has embraced talking about spending cuts \u2014 Medicare, Ukraine, and all that. It would obviously behoove them to lean into the culture war and show just how extreme the Democratic Party is.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The issue has come to the fore as Leftists have embraced giving children chemical and even surgical \u201cgender-affirming care\u201d over the objections \u2014 or behind the backs \u2014 of their parents. Many of the treatments are irreversible, according to experts. Lawmakers in more than a dozen red states have passed laws protecting minors from such procedures, while some blue states have announced that they will be \u201csanctuaries\u201d for gender dysphoric children who run away from home.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the new gender ideology, many on the Left are embracing drag shows for children, obscene books in school libraries, graphic sex education at increasingly early ages, and public displays of nudity in front of kids.<\/p>\n<p>The Left\u2019s new look plays poorly with ethnic minority groups across the U.S., many of whom are standing up against offshoots inside the LGBTQ movement that demand their children subscribe to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/radical-gender-theory-emerges-as-key-wedge-issue-in-2024-presidential-election\/\" title=\"Gender theory becomes divisive issue in 2024 election.\">extreme progressive leftist agendas taught inside<\/a> the public school system.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen this actually over and over in our data,\u201d Schweppe said. \u201cHispanics, Muslims, blacks \u2014 the way to reach them is by talking about these cultural issues because a lot of these folks are not on board with the Left-wing agenda. They\u2019re just incredibly uncomfortable with the Republicans\u2019 economic agenda, and that\u2019s usually what causes them to vote the way they do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In recent weeks, minority parents from Armenian, Hispanic, and Muslim communities have clashed with far-Left activists and school board members across the country. Their outrage is driven by books, lessons, and public school policies that all seem aimed at confusing young children about sex and gender.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/press-releases\/parents-defending-education-poll-71-of-voters-support-legislation-requiring-schools-to-inform-parents-if-their-child-wants-to-change-their-gender-identity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a> published by Parents Defending Education on whether schools should be allowed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-responds-to-russias-invasion-of-ukraine\/\" title=\"Biden Responds To Russia\u2019s Invasion Of Ukraine\">hide students\u2019 gender transitions<\/a> from their parents showed that 75% percent of parents voted schools should require parental consent before helping their child change their so-called gender identity.<\/p>\n<p>Among those numbers, 76% of black voters, 71% of white voters, 66% of Hispanic voters, and 59% of Asian voters oppose letting schools withhold information about a child\u2019s gender identity from their parents.<\/p>\n<p>Outside California\u2019s Glendale Unified School District\u2019s headquarters, parents \u2014 some from the Los Angeles County city\u2019s Armenian and Hispanic communities \u2014 blasted board members earlier this month for promoting a pro-LGBTQ agenda to young children. Other speakers, including a man in a skirt and high heels, showed up in support of the district\u2019s pro-Pride plan, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2023\/06\/06\/antifa-armenian-parents-clash-california-school-board-meeting-required-lgbtq-activities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBringing in curriculum for K-6 on gender ideology, that is what we\u2019re against,\u201d Any Torosyan, a parent from Glendale, told <a href=\"https:\/\/ktla.com\/news\/local-news\/fights-break-out-amid-glendale-school-board-meeting-on-pride-curriculum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KTLA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>One self-identified teacher who works in the Glendale school district in California <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greg_price11\/status\/1666275924508114944?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1666275924508114944%7Ctwgr%5Ed65859166410531eb965566b29651cde627fc7a3%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2Farmenian-hispanic-parents-clash-with-antifa-school-board-over-lgbtq-agenda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> the board that children know they are transgender as early as 3 years old and that they are being persecuted.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI am also a community member who volunteers extensively in South L.A. and work with the Children\u2019s Hospital of Los Angeles with queer\/trans youth in large groups, and so I deal with a lot of their trauma related to the hetero-normative, Judeo-Christian, patriarchal, imperialist, capitalist system that oppresses them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some 2,500 miles east in Rockville, Maryland, dozens of Muslim and Christian parents protested outside Montgomery County Public Schools \u2014 the state\u2019s largest school district \u2014 after officials allegedly refused to allow parents to opt their children out of learning sexuality and gender indoctrination.<\/p>\n<p>A Democratic member of a Montgomery County board compared Muslim children to \u201cwhite supremacists\u201d after parents spoke out against the sexually provocative and gender-based material taught in classrooms.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThis issue, unfortunately, does put\u2026 some Muslim families on the same side of an issue as white supremacists and outright bigots,\u201d Kristin Mink of Montgomery County Council for District 5 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/dem-maryland-official-muslim-children-aligned-white-supremacists-opposing-lgbtq-curriculum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly<\/a> said during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/loudoun-county-is-forcing-parents-to-sign-form-promising-not-to-show-anyone-their-crt-based-curriculum\/\" title=\"Loudoun County Is Forcing Parents to Sign Form Promising Not to Show Anyone Their CRT-Based Curriculum\">heated school board meeting<\/a> in June. \u201cI would not put you in the same category as those folks, although, you know, it\u2019s complicated because they\u2019re falling on the same side of this particular issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A former student in the district, a young girl wearing a hijab, addressed the board during a meeting earlier this month.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cFreedom of religion is a fundamental human right that protects the conscience of all people,\u201d the girl said. \u201cIt allows us to think, express, and act upon what we deeply believe. The issue of gender and sexuality are influenced by our faith, and we should not be caricatured as intolerant.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some believe the new activism by parents started during the COVID pandemic. When the federal government and many states forced school districts nationwide to switch to online learning, parents from all walks of life saw teacher activists pushing controversial and often perverted ideologies on their children.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThese are folks we should be reaching,\u201d Schweppe said. \u201cBut the only way we\u2019re going to do it is by tailoring the messaging and really focusing on this is as a main issue, especially for rites of passage to direct the upbringing of their kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Such rhetoric from the Left has pushed minority parents like Asra Nomani, a former Wall Street Journal reporter and self-described Muslim feminist, to go through what she called the \u201cGreat Anti-Woke Awakening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Nomani documented a protest on against the district\u2019s alienation of parental rights. During the Obama administration, Nomani said Muslim groups became aligned with far-Left interest groups that contradict the socially conservative beliefs of many Muslims.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe, the mostly minority parents, are the woke army\u2019s worst nightmare \u2014 and the woke army is now the Democratic party,\u201d Nomani told The Daily Wire. \u201cAnd these parents are now waking up to the fact they have been failed by the Democratic machine.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Nomani said many black Muslim and Hispanic families attended the rallies who were chanting \u201cNot Your Children,\u201d \u201cProtect Our Children,\u201d and \u201cReligious Freedom Now\u201d while carrying signs reading, \u201cRestore Opt-Out\u201d and \u201cFamily Rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201c[Muslim and Hispanic] families are emerging now because they see this threat to their children as a threat to their self-identity,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd we are seeing this because we have common sense, we came to this country with a conscious choice, and we\u2019re gonna manifest it\u2019s destiny with conscious advocacy and activism.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On the corner of Campus Drive and Mannakee Street, in Montgomery County, Maryland, earlier this week roughly 1,000 Arab Muslims, Ethiopian Christians, Peruvian Catholics and many other brown and black immigrant families, she said, protested against school officials to allow parents to opt their kids out of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/n-j-mom-sues-police-military-officials-for-labeling-her-post-about-schools-polysexual-poster-a-security-threat\/\" title=\"N.J.
