Now, because of his corruption, he will serve a substantial prison sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Borges will be sentenced on June 30.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sentencing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Prior to his sentencing, Householder appealed to the judge for leniency, holding that a longer sentence would hurt his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-michigan-house-member-files-to-impeach-governor-gretchen-whitmer\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Michigan House Member Files to Impeach Governor Gretchen Whitmer\">family members<\/a> more than it would him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t power hungry. I went home,\u201d he said, referencing his departure from the Ohio House between speakerships. He added that he and his wife had given \u201cevery ounce of energy we have to make life better for others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judge Black, however, was unmoved. Citing Householder\u2019s obscene statements presented at trial, he challenged the politician\u2019s depiction of himself as a family-oriented man.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018If you\u2019re going to [expletive] with me, I\u2019m going to [expletive] with your kids,\u2019\u201d he quoted, among other statements.<\/p>\n<p>Householder, the judge said, was \u201ca bully with a lust for power\u201d whose actions constituted an \u201cassault on democracy, the betrayal of everyone in Ohio.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Householder\u2019s attorneys had pushed for a sentence of just 12\u201318 months, holding that the humiliation and disgrace the politician had faced throughout the trial was a form of punishment in and of itself.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors, on the other hand, felt 16\u201320 years would be more appropriate.
