However, Gorsuch dismissed her claims, accusing her of distorting the facts presented in the majority opinion.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;For instance: While stressing that a Colorado company cannot refuse &#8216;the full and equal enjoyment of [its] services&#8217; based on a customer&#8217;s protected status &#8230; the dissent assures us that a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gorsuch-humiliates-sotomayor-for-adrift-dissent-heres-the-quality-of-leftist-justices\/\" title=\"Gorsuch humiliates Sotomayor over 'adrift' dissent, revealing leftist justices' quality.\">company selling creative services &#8216;<\/a>to the public&#8217; does have a right &#8216;to decide what messages to include or not to include,'&#8221; Gorsuch pointed out.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The case in question involved Lorie Smith, a Christian web designer who sued Colorado in 2016 for its laws that would have compelled her to create a website for a same-sex wedding, which she believed violated her religious beliefs and freedom of speech.<\/p>\n<p>Gorsuch also addressed Sotomayor&#8217;s argument that the ruling undermined the progress made by the LGBTQ+ community. While acknowledging the importance of LGBTQ+ rights, Gorsuch emphasized that the dissent failed to address the central question at hand: whether the government can force an individual to express a message contrary to their beliefs.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;When the dissent finally gets around to that question \u2014 more than halfway into its opinion \u2014 it reimagines the facts of this case from top to bottom,&#8221; Gorsuch wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Contrary to his colleagues&#8217; claims, Gorsuch clarified that the ruling did not create a new right to refuse service to a protected class.
