Thus, all claims against her should have been dismissed as untimely,&#8221; the judges wrote in the decision.<\/p>\n<p>While the judges denied the former president\u2019s motion to dismiss the case, they agreed to limit the time frame of some of the claims against the other defendants, barring some claims before 2016 and others before 2014.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2>\u2018Witch Hunt,\u2019 Claims Trump<\/h2>\n<p>James\u2019 civil lawsuit, filed in September 2022, seeks at least $250 million in damages from Trump, his adult sons Donald Jr. and Eric, the Trump Organization and others. It also seeks to block the Trumps from operating businesses in the state of New York.<\/p>\n<p>The suit accuses Trump of lying about asset values in order to secure better terms for loans and insurance<\/p>\n<p>It alleges that, for about a decade between 2011 and 2021, Trump fraudulently manipulated asset valuations, including his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, his Trump Tower penthouse in Manhattan, and his own net worth.<\/p>\n<p>James wants the Trump Organization to be barred from doing business in New York, from engaging in real estate acquisitions in the state for five years, and for Trump and his children to be barred from serving as high-level executives at any New York company.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who is the Republican frontrunner in the 2024 presidential election, has called James\u2019 lawsuit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ivanka-trump-dropped-as-co-defendant-in-250-million-lawsuit\/\" title=\"Ivanka Trump no longer a defendant in 0M lawsuit.\">politically-motivated \u201cwitch hunt\u201d meant<\/a> to thwart his bid for the White House.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the New York Attorney General\u2019s office said in a statement to media outlets following Tuesday\u2019s appellate court ruling that there\u2019s enough evidence for the case to proceed against the other defendants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text__text__1FZLe text__dark-grey__3Ml43 text__regular__2N1Xr text__large__nEccO body__full_width__ekUdw body__large_body__FV5_X article-body__element__2p5pI\" data-testid=\"paragraph-9\">&#8220;There is a mountain of evidence that shows Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization falsely and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-democrats-believe-bidens-justice-department-will-prosecute-trump-warn-it-could-backfire\/\" title=\"Senate Democrats Believe Biden\u2019s Justice Department Will Prosecute Trump, Warn It Could Backfire\">fraudulently valued multiple assets<\/a> and misrepresented those values to financial institutions for significant economic gain,&#8221; a spokeswoman for James said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text__text__1FZLe text__dark-grey__3Ml43 text__regular__2N1Xr text__large__nEccO body__full_width__ekUdw body__large_body__FV5_X article-body__element__2p5pI\" data-testid=\"paragraph-9\">&#8220;This decision allows us to hold him accountable for that fraud, and we intend to do so,&#8221; the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text__text__1FZLe text__dark-grey__3Ml43 text__regular__2N1Xr text__large__nEccO body__full_width__ekUdw body__large_body__FV5_X article-body__element__2p5pI\" data-testid=\"paragraph-11\">Christopher Kise, a lawyer for the former president and most of the other defendants, said the ruling was &#8220;the first step&#8221; toward ending the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-11\">&#8220;The correct application of the law will now limit appropriately the previously unlimited reach of the attorney general,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p data-testid=\"paragraph-11\">&#8220;We remain confident that once all the real facts are known, there will be no doubt President Trump has built an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ivanka-trump-dropped-as-co-defendant-in-250-million-lawsuit-2\/\" title=\"Ivanka Trump no longer a co-defendant in 0M lawsuit.\">extraordinarily successful business empire<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Lawsuit Delayed?<\/h2>\n<p>James said in a recent interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PodSaveAmerica\/status\/1668441446968594432?cxt=HHwWgMDQ8f-pv6cuAAAA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pod Save America<\/a> that her lawsuit against Trump could be delayed by the Department of Justice\u2019s criminal case against the former president on charges of mishandling classified documents.<\/p>\n<p>Trump entered a not guilty plea after being indicted on federal charges in Florida earlier in June for allegedly mishandling documents, including ones with &#8220;top secret&#8221; markings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In all likelihood, I believe that my case, as well as DA Bragg and the Georgia case, will unfortunately have to be adjourned pending the outcome of the federal case,&#8221; James said.<\/p>\n<p>She was responding to a question about whether the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ny-attorney-general-says-lawsuit-against-trump-could-be-delayed\/\" title=\"NY AG: Lawsuit Against Trump May Face Delay.\">federal classified documents case<\/a> will tie in with James\u2019s civil suit or Man<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A New York appeals court dismissed all claims against Ivanka Trump in a civil lawsuit brought by Attorney General Letitia James.
