Kennedy Jr.<\/a> joined leftists by defending affirmative action after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/as-supreme-court-hears-challenge-against-race-based-college-admissions-joe-biden-wants-race-based-supreme-court-nominee\/\" title=\"As Supreme Court Hears Challenge Against Race-Based College Admissions, Joe Biden Wants Race-Based Supreme Court Nominee\">race-based admissions policies<\/a> were struck down by the Supreme Court on Thursday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Supreme Court Strikes Down Race-Based Admissions Programs<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The high court <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/supreme-court-issues-landmark-ruling-on-affirmative-action-at-universities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ruled<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Thursday that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-exempts-military-academies-in-affirmative-action-ruling\/\" title=\"Supreme Court exempts military academies from affirmative action ruling.\">race-based admissions programs<\/a> at Harvard violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and the University of North Carolina violated the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. Kennedy\u2019s defense of the struck-down <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maybe-this-is-why-youre-still-a-democrat-rfk-jr-slammed-for-defending-affirmative-action-after-scotus-decision\/\" title=\"RFK Jr. criticized for supporting affirmative action post-SCOTUS ruling.\">programs met swift backlash<\/a> from commentators and a presidential candidate who have long argued that the policies are racist and harm those they purport to help.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cRegarding the Supreme Court banning affirmative action in higher ed \u2014 I know many Americans feel that purely race-based decisions are unfair. However, this feeling misses important context. The effects of racist policies going back centuries are now self-perpetuating,\u201d Kennedy <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RobertKennedyJr\/status\/1674527565170524161\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">tweeted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Thursday. \u201cAffirmative action understands this and uses race-based policies to undo the effects of racist policies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kennedy then criticized admissions policies that are \u201ccolor-blind,\u201d claiming they boost those who come from privileged backgrounds above minorities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c\u2018Color-blind\u2019 admissions tend to favor those who are already in the circle of privilege,\u201d the Democrat said. \u201cIt favors those who grew up in affluent, educated households. Wouldn\u2019t you like to invite in those who have been left out in the cold?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy blasted Kennedy\u2019s support of race-based admissions and argued for a \u201ccolorblind meritocracy.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I strongly disagree with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RobertKennedyJr?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RobertKennedyJr<\/a> that affirmative action is about \u201cletting in those who have been left out in the cold.\u201d That\u2019s wrong. Why would you want a second generation Asian kid who busts his ass, whose parents came here with nothing and worked hard to be discriminated against?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a follow-up tweet, Rubin added, \u201cMany been asking what makes [Kennedy] a Democrat.
