Since 2017, the number of Americans showing high levels of patriotism in their county has been below 50%. Republicans are twice as likely to identify as extremely proud than Democrats.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cParty identification remains the greatest demographic differentiator in expressions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/matt-gaetz-requests-pledge-of-allegiance-before-hearings-nadler-shoots-him-down\/\" title=\"Matt Gaetz Requests Pledge Of Allegiance Before Hearings; Nadler Shoots Him Down\">national pride<\/a>, and Republicans have been consistently more likely than Democrats and independents to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/desantis-signs-proclamation-declaring-florida-swimmer-best-womens-swimmer-after-loss-to-trans-athlete\/\" title=\"DeSantis Signs Proclamation Declaring Florida Swimmer \u2018Best Women\u2019s Swimmer\u2019 After Loss To Trans Athlete\">express pride<\/a> in being American throughout the trend,\u201d Megan Brenan, research consultant at Gallup, said of the results. \u201cThat gap has been particularly pronounced since 2018, with more than twice as many Republicans as Democrats saying they are extremely proud.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The poll, conducted between June 1-22, shows a strong partisan divide in levels of patriotism. Sixty percent of Republicans, up from 58% last year, say they are \u201cextremely proud\u201d to be an American. For Democrats, that number is just 29%, up from 26% last year, while 33% of independents feel the same.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Though the number of those who show extreme pride seems low, combined with those that are \u201cvery proud\u201d to be Americans, the number is 67% \u2014 up from 65% last year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIn terms of the combined percentages saying they are extremely or very proud, roughly nine in 10 Americans expressed high levels of pride in the earliest years of the trend, through 2004,\u201d Brenan says. \u201cIn 2005, that figure began falling into the 80% range, before dropping to 75% in 2017 and staying below 70% since 2020.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2001, the first year Gallup asked the question, the number of Americans extremely proud of their country was 55%, and 87% combined with those who were very proud. Gallup notes that after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, levels of patriotism \u201cintensified,\u201d with 65-70% of Americans identifying as extremely proud.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the poll, 4% of Americans are \u201cnot at all proud\u201d to be an American, while 7% are \u201conly a little proud,\u201d 22% are \u201cmoderately proud,\u201d and 28% are \u201cvery proud.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The results also have a distinct age gap, with older people much more likely to show high levels of patriotism. While 42% of Republicans aged 18-34 are extremely proud of their country, that number is 64% for the 35-54 age group and 68% for the 55+ age group. Just 38% of Democrats aged 55-plus are extremely proud to be American, the poll found. For Democrats 18-34, that number is a mere 12%.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAlthough the percentage of U.S. adults who say they are extremely proud to be American remains near the record low, together with the share who are very proud, about two<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-adults-extremely-proud-to-be-american-near-record-low\/\" title=\"Record low levels of American adults expressing extreme pride in being American.\">-thirds express national pride<\/a>,\u201d Brenan concluded. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The recent Gallup poll reveals that only 39% of adults in the US are &#8220;extremely proud&#8221; to be American, slightly above the lowest recorded figure.
