Thomas, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/clarence-thomas-the-supreme-court-could-be-the-most-dangerous-branch-of-government\/\" title=\"Clarence Thomas: The Supreme Court Could Be The \u2018Most Dangerous\u2019 Branch Of Government\">longest-serving member<\/a> of the current court, joined the rest of the Republican-appointed majority in a 6-3 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/22pdf\/20-1199_hgdj.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decision<\/a> that universities\u2019 use of racial discrimination in admissions to guarantee minority entry is illegal under the 14th Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I am painfully aware of the social and economic ravages which have befallen my race and all who suffer discrimination,\u201d Thomas wrote in his concurring opinion, \u201cI hold out enduring hope that this country will live up to its principles so clearly enunciated in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the reasons Thomas concurred with the majority\u2019s ruling to strike down race-based admissions was his rejection of the assumption that race, rather than merit, is the primary driver of success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese policies may harm even those who succeed academically,\u201d Thomas wrote. \u201cI have long believed that large racial preferences in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/msnbc-proves-clarence-thomas-point-that-race-based-admissions-uphold-the-bigotry-of-low-expectations\/\" title=\"MSNBC validates Clarence Thomas' argument on race-based admissions and the perpetuation of low expectations.\">college admissions \u2018stamp [blacks<\/a> and Hispanics] with a badge of inferiority.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsequently, \u2018[w]hen blacks\u2019 and, now, Hispanics \u2018take positions in the highest places of government, industry, or academia, it is an open question\u2026 whether their skin color played a part in their advancement,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Thomas can write from his own experience. Shortly after the decision was handed down, an exchange on MSNBC proved his case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClarence Thomas, you know, he has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/university-of-colorado-president-pushed-out-for-supposed-lack-of-commitment-to-diversity-after-establishing-millions-for-race-based-initiatives\/\" title=\"University Of Colorado President Pushed Out For Supposed Lack Of Commitment To Diversity After Establishing Millions For Race-Based Initiatives\">criticized affirmative action<\/a>. That\u2019s how \u2014 that\u2019s one of the reasons why he graduated from Yale and we know that\u2019s one of the reasons why he\u2019s on the Supreme Court,\u201d said network legal analyst Catherine Christian.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p>\n      <span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Christian: &#8220;Clarence Thomas, you know, he has criticized Affirmative Action. Affirmative action policies reinforce the bigotry of low expectations, wherein skin color is identified as both a handicap and metric of preferential treatment and success.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas\u2019 colleague Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/21\/will-a-justice-ketanji-brown-jackson-be-a-legacy-of-critical-race-theory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explicitly<\/a> nominated to the high court by President Joe Biden because of her race and sex.
