However, it was crucial that race did not become the sole determining factor. Sharpton argued that this policy was necessary due to the country&#8217;s racial history.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I think that this is tantamount to sticking a dagger in our back because what they have said now is that it is unconstitutional to even consider race,&#8221; Sharpton expressed. &#8220;It was against the law for us to read and write until 160 years ago. We were enslaved for 246 years.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Supreme Court&#8217;s decision effectively overturned the landmark 1978 case Regents of the University of California v. Bakke, which had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-jackson-says-shell-recuse-herself-from-big-case-if-confirmed-to-supreme-court\/\" title=\"Judge Jackson Says She\u2019ll Recuse Herself From Big Case If Confirmed To Supreme Court\">upheld affirmative action<\/a>.
