hours into the voyage.<\/p>\n<p>An extensive, much-publicized international <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/flashback-oceangate-ceo-admits-unsettling-fact-titanic-sub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">search effort<\/a> ensued for five days, with media outlets counting down the hours of oxygen the craft was supposed to have left on board to sustain the occupants.<\/p>\n<p>Later, however, it was revealed that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/navy-detected-titanic-submersibles-implosion-5-days-ago-kept-quiet-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Navy<\/a> had detected sounds that were believed to be caused by the implosion of the submersible about the time contact was lost with the surface.<\/p>\n<p>The Navy notified the Coast Guard about the detection of the sound, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-navy-detected-titan-sub-implosion-days-ago-6844cb12?mod=hp_lead_pos1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> reported, but officials decided \u201cto continue our mission as a search and rescue and make every effort to save the lives on board.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those who died in the disaster included the vessel\u2019s owner, OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, as well as British billionaire adventurer Hamish Harding, French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, and his 19-year-old son, Suleman.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/titan-sub-titanic-photos-implosion-debris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS<\/a> reported the debris was found on the sea floor about 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic.<\/p>\n<p>The news outlet quoted the U.S. Coast Guard as saying the debris was \u201cconsistent with a catastrophic implosion of the vessel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The debris field was located Thursday by a remotely operated vehicle, or ROV, owned by Pelagic Research Services.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\">\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cOur team has successfully completed off-shore operations, but is still on mission and will be in the process of demobilization from the Horizon Arctic this morning.
