Newsom Gained Traction In Past 2 Weeks\">poll results released<\/a> by Morning Consult earlier on the same day.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Surveys Show Trump&#8217;s Growing Support<\/h3>\n<p>The survey <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IAPolls2022\/status\/1673647399833567232\">showed<\/a> that 44 percent of roughly 6,000 registered voters would support Trump\u2014three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/french-presidential-election-macron-bails-on-tv-debate-as-marine-le-pen-gains-ground\/\" title=\"French Presidential Election: Macron Bails on TV Debate as Marine Le Pen Gains Ground\">percentage points ahead<\/a> of President Joe Biden\u2014in a hypothetical two-way matchup. Ten percent said they would back someone else while five percent were undecided.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is considered Trump\u2019s biggest rival in the GOP primary, picked up 40 percent of support when assumed as the Republican candidate, losing to Biden by two percentage points. In this hypothetical scenario, 12 percent supported someone else while six percent were undecided.<\/p>\n<p>In the crowded GOP field, Trump led with 57 percent of support, with DeSantis finishing second with 19 percent. Former Vice President Mike Pence finished third with seven percent of support.<\/p>\n<h3>McCarthy&#8217;s Uncertainty and Trump&#8217;s Endorsements<\/h3>\n<p>Hours earlier, however, in a separate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ilfp0s_nOPE&#038;t=567s\">interview<\/a> with CNBC, McCarthy said he was unsure if Trump was the \u201cstrongest\u201d presidential candidate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan he win that election? Yeah, he can,\u201d McCarthy said, referring to Trump. \u201cThe question is, is he the strongest to win the election? I don\u2019t know that answer. But can somebody, can anybody beat Biden? Yeah, anybody can beat Biden. Can Biden beat other people? Yes, Biden can beat them. It\u2019s on any given day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over 60 lawmakers have endorsed Trump for 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Presidential_election_endorsements,_2024\">according to<\/a> Ballotpedia\u2019s endorsement tracker. Currently, McCarthy has not endorsed any GOP candidate for the White House race.<\/p>\n<h3>Trump&#8217;s Legal Issues and Public Opinion<\/h3>\n<p>During the CNBC interview, McCarthy said Trump\u2019s effort to confront various legal issues \u201calso helps him\u201d in the general election.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/most-americans-believe-trump-indictment-is-primarily-politically-motivated-quinnipiac-poll_5348817.html\">poll<\/a> released by Quinnipiac University on June 21, 62 percent of the registered voters polled said that the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/analysis-how-strong-is-the-case-against-trump_5325500.html\">37-count indictment<\/a> against Trump for alleged mishandling of classified documents was politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Breitbart News, McCarthy criticized the American justice system under the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs usual, the media is attempting to drive a wedge between President Trump and House Republicans as our committees are holding Biden\u2019s DOJ accountable for their two-tiered levels of justice,\u201d McCarthy told Breitbart. \u201cThe only reason Biden is using his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-stacey-plaskett-threatens-matt-taibbi-with-prison\/\" title=\"Stacey Plaskett, a Democrat, threatens Matt Taibbi with jail time.\">weaponized federal government<\/a> to go after President Trump is because he is Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mccarthy-says-trump-stronger-in-2024-despite-questioning-his-strength-as-candidate\/\" title=\"McCarthy claims Trump is 'stronger' for 2024, despite doubts about his candidacy.\">strongest political opponent<\/a>, as polling continues to show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/hunter-biden-pleads-guilty-to-federal-charges_5344246.html\">plea agreement<\/a> with federal prosecutors over two misdemeanor counts of tax evasion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) believes that former President Trump has a better chance of winning the upcoming presidential race compared to 2016.
