Earlier this year, Tennessee lawmakers passed a bill that defines gender based on biology rather than preference.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the powder tested in all states has not been found to be hazardous.<\/p>\n<p>In Montana, where a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/coincidence-biological-threat-mailed-to-gop-lawmakers-who-also-stood-up-to-lgbt-agenda\/\" title=\"Coincidence? GOP lawmakers targeted with biological threat after opposing LGBT agenda.\">high-profile incident involving<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/transgender-lawmaker-silenced-montana-house-will-allowed-speak-one-condition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transgender lawmaker<\/a> gained national attention, Republican state Rep. Neil Duram and other Montana Republicans received similar letters. The most recent target was Montana House Speaker Matt Regier.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/nbcmontana.com\/news\/local\/gianforte-montana-legislators-receiving-letters-containing-white-powder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KECI-TV<\/a>, the letter to Speaker Regier stated, &#8220;It is important not to choke on your ambition,&#8221; and was signed &#8220;your secret despirer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A third suspicious letter has been identified. This one was addressed to House Speaker Matt Regier and exterior post markings follow the pattern of the other letters. Speaker Regier\u2019s letter is now in the possession of law enforcement. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/mtleg?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#mtleg<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/mtpol?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#mtpol<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Montana Senate GOP (@MTSenateGOP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MTSenateGOP\/status\/1673004519687331840?\">June 25, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The letters had local return addresses but were postmarked in Kansas City, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/nbcmontana.com\/news\/local\/montana-representatives-release-statements-after-threatening-letters-containing-white-powder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KECI-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The wave of letters originated in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/churches-begin-hosting-drag-story-hour-disturbing-lgbt-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kansas<\/a>, where over 100 letters containing powder were received, all addressed to Republicans, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansas.com\/news\/politics-government\/article276573681.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wichita Eagle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although the motive behind these incidents remains unclear, the Eagle noted that Kansas recently passed a ban on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tenn-gov-lee-transgender-athletes-would-destroy-womens-sports\/\" title=\"Tenn. Gov. Lee: Transgender athletes would \u2018destroy women\u2019s sports\u2019\">transgender athletes competing<\/a> in female sports.<\/p>\n<p>Republican state Sen. Molly Baumgardner expressed concern, stating, &#8220;Time and effort was put into this. I think it does give individuals pause simply because whatever individual or group decided to pursue this, the intention was to be threatening. The intention was to create a threat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Republican state Rep. Stephen Owens of Kansas received a letter with the same content as the one received by Montana legislator Neil Duram. The letter warned, &#8220;It is important not to choke on your ambition,&#8221; and was signed &#8220;your secret despirer,&#8221; according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/06\/19\/us\/kansas-white-powder-letters\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Owens speculated that the letters may be related to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-investigates-after-100-letters-containing-white-powder-sent-to-kansas-lawmakers\/\" title=\"FBI probes 100 letters with white powder sent to Kansas lawmakers.\">recent vetoes overridden<\/a> by the legislature, particularly concerning LGBT and abortion issues. He expressed his concern, saying, &#8220;It&#8217;s really terrifying to think that because of someone&#8217;s political beliefs, they can be a target.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another Kansas Republican state Rep., Tory Marie Blew, received an envelope with the name of a deceased transgender woman as the return address.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the intimidation, Owens stated that the letter will not change his votes, emphasizing that violence and threats do not alter one&#8217;s perspective.
