He was an object lesson in how bigoted, how hateful and how divided this country was.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, 23-year-old Aldrich was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/suspect-plead-guilty-2022-mass-shooting-colorado-gay-nightclub-2023-06-26\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>, after pleading guilty to five counts of first-degree murder and 46 counts of attempted murder after a shooting rampage inside a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado in November 2022. The plea garnered little media coverage; Reuters\u2019 report was only 15 paragraphs and made no mention of hate other than a brief mention that he \u201cpleaded no contest to two counts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-announces-hate-crimes-and-bias-related-initiatives-including-reporting-hotline\/\" title=\"DOJ Announces \u201cHate Crimes and Bias-Related\u201d Initiatives, Including Reporting Hotline\">bias-motivated crimes<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You may have forgotten about Aldrich and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/18-injured-5-dead-horrific-nightclub-shooting-suspect-custody\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Club Q shooting<\/a> in Colorado Springs. The media certainly didn\u2019t want you to forget it during the first few days after Aldrich was charged with the mass shooting. Then came a very inconvenient fact which never really came into dispute:<\/p>\n<p>Aldrich identified as nonbinary.<\/p>\n<p>Before then, the Club Q shooting was a political cause celebre. Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki used the event to remind American \u201cthat members of the LGBTQ+ community continue to be targeted by hate, by judgment and by violence. 32 transgender people have been killed so far this year. It is an everyday fear people are living with \u2026 in 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">This Club Q shooting should be a reminder that members of the LGBTQ+ community continue to be targeted by hate, by judgment and by violence. 32 transgender people have been killed so far this year. Polis: GOP's Anti-LGBTQ Legislation 'Un-American,' 'Overreach' -- Will Hurt Their Party\">openly gay governor<\/a> in the United States, had this to say, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/coloradosun.com\/2022\/11\/20\/jared-polis-club-q-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colorado Sun<\/a>: \u201cThe only motive here is pure evil, whether it was for personal reasons or specifically targeted to the LGBTQ community. We now need to focus on coming together around the healing process for those directly involved as well as LGBTQ Americans across the state across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And then came the bombshell report that alleged shooter, Aldrich, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/media-crowing-alleged-colo-shooters-lgbt-phobia-court-filing-changes-narrative-completely\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">identified as \u201cnon-binary\u201d<\/a> and \u201cthey use they\/them pronouns,\u201d as indicated in court documents filed by his public defender.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">In new court filing, public defenders for the suspect in the mass shooting at a Colorado gay club that left 5 people dead say that their client is non-binary and that \u201cthey use they\/them pronouns.\u201d The lawyers refer to their client as Mx. Anderson Aldrich. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dPaUpiFXKN\">pic.twitter.com\/dPaUpiFXKN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Nicholas Bogel-Burroughs (@NickAtNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NickAtNews\/status\/1595230623865643008?\">November 23, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Of course, that was met with disbelief both on social media and in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-cnn-anchor-watches-narrative-collapse-left-stunned-finds-colorado-shooting-suspect-non-binary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">establishment media<\/a>\u00a0as well:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I\u2019m going to state the obvious so\u2026 bare with me. She was speechless that the shooter identifies as \u201cnon binary\u201d: \u201cI don\u2019t know what to say about that.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mLdsZZlCds\">pic.twitter.com\/mLdsZZlCds<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kevin Tober (@KevinTober94) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KevinTober94\/status\/1595266602479616000?\">November 23, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Even Reuters seemed to cast doubt upon this, phrasing it thusly: \u201cAldrich, who told the court they identify as nonbinary, declined to speak during the sentencing, but their defense lawyer, Joseph Archambault, said Aldrich wanted the court to know that \u2018they are deeply remorseful.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence, however, that this was some kind of scam or that Aldrich didn\u2019t believe himself to be nonbinary. Indeed, the primary motivating factor seemed to be that Aldrich was a deeply disturbed individual with a problematic home life who shouldn\u2019t have had access to firearms in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAldrich was known to law enforcement, having been arrested in June 2021. Aldrich\u2019s mother had reported that Aldrich had threatened to detonate a bomb and harm her with multiple weapons, according to a press release from the El Paso County Sheriff\u2019s Office. Aldrich\u2019s mother declined to testify for the prosecution, and the case was dismissed,\u201d Reuters reported.<\/p>\n<p>And that was that. Quietly, Aldrich was sentenced to life behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>Remember the panic, though. Remember the statements from public figures like the president, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jen-psaki-blasted-john-kerry-msnbc-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psaki<\/a> and Polis, which tacitly pointed a finger at Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>Remember figures like MSNBC contributor Frank Figliuzzi, who had this to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/tucker-carlson-no-healthy-society-tolerate-pedophilia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">say<\/a> after the shooting: \u201cIf he\u2019s a consumer of the people we just rattled off from Lauren Boebert to Tucker Carlson, let\u2019s get it out. Let\u2019s get it out at trial. Let\u2019s expose it for what it is. Name it and shame it. He\u2019s a consumer of these people and those people should face civil consequences from the victims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Or remember <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/host-view-sunny-hostin-makes-disgusting-claim-jesus-will-make-blood-boil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> of \u201cThe View,\u201d who also blamed Rep. Boebert: \u201cWords matter, and people like Lauren Boebert, who, you know, has been in the forefront of dissing LGBTQ+ people, is now saying her prayers and thoughts go with the families. Well, they don\u2019t really need your prayers and thoughts, they needed your votes. That\u2019s what they need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Where are they now? They\u2019ve moved on, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/police-report-trans-shooters-social-media-post-devastate-lefts-anti-christian-narrative-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">because the narrative<\/a> wasn\u2019t there. This was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alleged-anti-lgbt-mass-shooter-who-didnt-fit-media-narrative-quietly-sentenced-on-monday\/\" title=\"Suspected 'Anti-LGBT' Mass Shooter Sentenced Silently on Monday\">deeply unstable young man<\/a> who needed professional and legal intervention in his life. He didn\u2019t get it, and he killed five people. If a hate crime isn\u2019t really a hate crime, the media moves on and gives it only passing coverage, no matter how many people died.
