According to the report, CISA \u201cmetastasized into the nerve center of the federal government\u2019s domestic surveillance and censorship operations on social media,\u201d and has steadily expanded the scope of its censorship since 2018.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1120142570\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-30d2d09de3c4c1293b0f5fa01aa6ca17 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-30d2d09de3c4c1293b0f5fa01aa6ca17\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIn 2022 and 2023, in response to growing public and private criticism of CISA\u2019s unconstitutional behavior, CISA attempted to camouflage its activities, duplicitously claiming it serves a purely \u2018informational\u2019 role,\u201d the report reads. <\/p>\n<p>CISA ultimately outsourced its dystopian censorship regime to third-party nonprofits and colluded with Big Tech companies to suppress information deemed incorrect or harmful to regime narratives. CISA, lawmakers wrote, \u201cexploited its connections with Big Tech and government-funded non-profits to censor, by proxy, in order to circumvent the First Amendment\u2019s prohibition against government-induced censorship.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis included the creation of reporting \u2018portals\u2019 which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-grew-censorship-complex-to-silence-true-but-inconvenient-malinformation-weaponization-committee-shows\/\" title=\"Biden Admin Expands Censorship to Suppress Uncomfortable 'Malinformation,' Reveals Weaponization Committee\">funneled \u2018misinformation\u2019 reports directly<\/a> to social media platforms,\u201d the report says.<\/p>\n<p>The government\u2019s disinformation efforts extended to the censorship of \u201cmalinformation,\u201d defined by CISA as \u201cbased on fact, but used out of context to mislead, harm, or manipulate.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d3069707756f5baa62619a86a4ee8fd8 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d3069707756f5baa62619a86a4ee8fd8\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIn other words, malinformation is <em>factual<\/em> information that is objectionable not because it is false or untruthful, but because it is provided without adequate \u2018context\u2019 \u2014 context as determined by the government,\u201d lawmakers explained. <\/p>\n<p>According to their report, CISA tried to \u201cdisguise the true nature\u201d of the agency\u2019s work by \u201cremoving references to surveillance and censorship\u201d from its website. President Joe Biden\u2019s Department of Justice also interfered with CISA public records requests to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-pays-for-growing-army-of-staff-to-deflect-hunter-biden-probe\/\" title=\"Biden Admin Pays for Growing Army of Staff to Deflect Hunter Biden Probe\">stonewall congressional oversight<\/a>. The select subcommittee is still waiting on CISA\u2019s compliance with subpoenas.<\/p>\n<p>The select subcommittee held a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/09\/democrats-desperate-to-implement-censorship-regime-disregard-free-speech-in-weaponization-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hearing <\/a>on the federal government\u2019s disinformation efforts in March featuring two journalists behind the \u201cTwitter Files,\u201d Substack reporters\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/substack.com\/profile\/263053-matt-taibbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matt Taibbi<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/public.substack.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michael Shellenberger<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerican taxpayers are unwittingly financing the growth and power of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/19-times-democrats-and-doj-deliberately-politicized-law-enforcement\/\" title=\"19 Times Democrats And DOJ Deliberately Politicized Law Enforcement\">censorship industrial complex run<\/a> by America\u2019s scientific and technological elite, which endangers our liberties and democracy,\u201d Shellenberger told lawmakers. \u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-desperate-to-implement-censorship-regime-disregard-free-speech-in-weaponization-hearing\/\" title=\"Democrats Desperate To Implement Censorship Regime Disregard Free Speech In Weaponization Hearing\">censorship industrial complex combines established methods<\/a> of psychological manipulation, some developed by the U.S. military during the global war on terror with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/aoc-on-tucker-exit-deplatforming-works\/\" title=\"AOC On Tucker Exit: \u2018Deplatforming Works\u2019\">highly sophisticated tools<\/a> from computer science.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-14114bdf9a14aa0cee23fb9b5b6f55e8 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-14114bdf9a14aa0cee23fb9b5b6f55e8\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe learned Twitter, Facebook, Google, and other companies developed a formal system for taking in moderation requests from every corner of government, from the FBI, the DHS, the HHS, DoD, the Global Engagement Center at State, even the CIA,\u201d Taibbi added. \u201cA focus of this fast-growing network \u2026 is making lists of people whose opinions, beliefs, associations or sympathies are deemed misinformation, disinformation, or malinformation. That last term is just a euphemism for \u2018true but inconvenient.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers made clear in their report Monday that the committee \u201cwill continue to investigate CISA\u2019s and other Executive Branch agencies\u2019 entanglement with social media platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Homeland Security isn\u2019t the only agency in the Biden administration engaged in the censorship industry.
