The resulting net-negative rating of -17 is \u201cthe lowest for any vice president in the poll\u2019s history,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/meet-the-press\/first-read\/desantis-gop-support-declining-new-nbc-poll-rcna91102\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News reported on Monday<\/a>. It also noted that 39% have a \u201cvery negative\u201d view of Harris.<\/p>\n<p>Showing its math for judging this the worst rating in more than two decades, the news outlet looked back at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/whitmer-endorsed-mayor-lacks-university-degree-as-advertised\/\" title=\"Whitmer-endorsed mayor lacks university degree as advertised\">surveys dating back<\/a> to 1995. The only other president to have a negative split, Mike Pence, was at 34% positive and 38% negative in October 2019 for a -4 rating. President Joe Biden barely made it into positive territory. In December 2010, his rating as vice president was 34% positive and 33% negative, creating a +1 split.<\/p>\n<p>Dick Cheney fared better in May 2003 with a +23 split arising from a 47% positive rating and a 24% negative rating. The furthest back in time that NBC News looked was March 1995, when Gore scored a 42% positive rating and 27% negative rating, resulting in a +15 split.<\/p>\n<h3>Struggles and Criticisms<\/h3>\n<p>Harris, a former attorney general of California and U.S. senator, is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2021\/01\/20\/inauguration-vice-president-kamala-harris-first-female-person-color-sworn-in\/4217882001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first woman to be vice president<\/a>, as well as the first black American and first South Asian American to hold the office.<\/p>\n<p>During her time in the White House, Harris has struggled to shake the view by critics that she did not take seriously her role as leader of the Biden administration\u2019s efforts to tackle the migration challenge at the U.S.-Mexico border. Her public speaking appearances have become fodder for mockery thanks to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/kamala-harris-word-salads-defended-view-lawyers-speak-threes-people-remember\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">constant flow of \u201cword salads.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-makes-reelection-bid-official-at-age-80\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced his 2024 re-election campaign in April<\/a>, he chose to stick with Harris as his running mate despite her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-mocked-after-rushing-to-defend-kamala-harris-following-cnn-chaos-report-worse-than-saying-nothing\/\" title=\"Psaki Mocked After Rushing To Defend Kamala Harris Following CNN Chaos Report: \u2018Worse Than Saying Nothing\u2019\">poor approval ratings<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/04\/26\/biden-harris-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios<\/a> reported around that time that the White House and Biden\u2019s campaign had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/white-house-struggling-to-salvage-kamala-harris-poor-image-ahead-of-2024-election-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">working to revamp her image<\/a> as officials feared she would be a drag on the ticket.<\/p>\n<p>Defenders of Harris, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/04\/27\/ron-klain-kamala-harris-sexism-criticism-00094166\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former White House chief of staff Ron Klain<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/jimmy-kimmel-sexism-racism-kamala-harris-low-approval-rating\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">late-night host Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>, have argued racism and sexism have been major factors in the vice president\u2019s unpopularity. In late April, Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-senate-ally-says-harris-ready-to-be-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said Harris<\/a> is \u201cready to be president should that ever happen,\u201d adding, \u201cI know our president has great confidence in her, and so do I.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Growing Concerns about Biden<\/h3>\n<p>The new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/polls-finds-rising-tide-of-voters-worried-biden-lacks-fitness-to-be-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll from NBC News<\/a> also found growing anxiety concerning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden<\/a>\u2018s fitness to serve, as more than two-thirds of registered voters \u2014 68% \u2014 said they have moderate to major concerns about him \u201cnot having the necessary mental and physical health\u201d to be president. And only 43% said they approve of Biden\u2019s job performance while 53% disapprove.<\/p>\n<p>Still, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-polls-worse-than-any-vice-president-since-1995\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris' poll ratings lowest among VPs since 1995.\">hypothetical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/impossible-gop-picked-up-seats-in-house-picked-up-state-legislatures-picked-up-governorship-held-the-senate-but-sniffy-joe-won-not-a-chance\/\" title=\"IMPOSSIBLE: GOP Picked Up Seats in House, Picked Up State Legislatures, Picked Up Governorship, Held the Senate -- But Sniffy Joe Won?... NOT A CHANCE\">general election<\/a> rematch envisioned<\/a> by the survey showed Biden ahead with 49% support over former President Donald Trump, who generally leads GOP primary polls, with 45% support. The survey also looked at a match-up between Biden and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, showing a 47%-47% tie in the general election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA majority of Americans have deep, deep concerns about Biden\u2019s physical and mental state; Kamala Harris is the least liked Vice President in the poll\u2019s history; and notwithstanding both, Biden\/Harris would still beat Trump,\u201d conservative radio host Erick Erickson <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EWErickson\/status\/1673383438378737670\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said about the poll<\/a>. \u201cAll the GOP has to do is avoid Trump, and many of them won\u2019t let him go.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vice President Kamala Harris disappoints Americans unlike any of her predecessors since Al Gore.
