in his June 22 response.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/turkey-using-ukraine-war-as-excuse-to-claim-greek-islands\/\" title=\"Turkey Using Ukraine War as Excuse to Claim Greek Islands\">initial requests<\/a>, Jordan asked Weiss to provide a list of all those who assisted in drafting his June 7 letter, as well as the names of the people who &#8220;instructed&#8221; him to sign and send it and who forwarded him the committee&#8217;s letter.<\/p>\n<p>The congressman also requested the details of any conversations or communications Weiss had with Garland pertaining to the committee&#8217;s letter.<\/p>\n<h3>&#8220;Political Considerations&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>In his June 7 letter, Weiss wrote that Jordan&#8217;s letter had been forwarded to him with a request that he respond on behalf of the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that Jordan&#8217;s inquiry appeared to relate to an investigation in his district, Weiss emphasized his authority over the matter and the need to keep his investigation separate from politics.<\/p>\n<p>However, Jordan pointed out in his reply that the committee&#8217;s focus was on the Justice Department&#8217;s treatment of a protected whistleblower, not Weiss&#8217; investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Concluding that the Justice Department has &#8220;no legitimate basis&#8221; to refuse his requests, Jordan gave Weiss until 5 p.m. ET on July 6 to provide all the requested documents and information.<\/p>\n<h2>Whistleblowers&#8217;
