Gates, and supporters like him, see synthetic meat as some sort of \u201cgreen\u201d solution to a litany of perceived worldly problems.<\/p>\n<p>However, many others and detractors of synthetic meat have voiced their reservations and have raised significant concerns about its safety.<\/p>\n<h3>Among these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nauseating-report-precancerous-cells-found-lab-grown-meat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">concerns<\/a> is the use of \u201cimmortalized cells\u201d in lab-grown meat production.<\/h3>\n<p>These concerns were echoed as recently as February 2023, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2023-02-07\/lab-grown-meat-has-bigger-challenges-than-the-fda#xj4y7vzkg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> wrote about this faux meat.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201c[Immortal cells] are, technically speaking, precancerous and can be, in some cases, fully cancerous,\u201d Bloomberg freelancer Joe Fassler noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/usda-decides-on-bill-gates-approved-fake-meat-are-these-cancer-tumors-or-totally-safe-to-eat\/\" title=\"USDA approves Bill Gates-backed fake meat: Safe or risky?\">typically left-leaning outlet quickly<\/a> tried to assuage the obvious concerns it had just raised.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t worry: Prominent cancer researchers tell Bloomberg Businessweek that because the cells aren\u2019t human, it\u2019s essentially impossible for people who eat them to get cancer from them, or for the precancerous or cancerous cells to replicate inside people at all,\u201d Fassler wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While Bloomberg swiftly dismisses this specific concern (the outlet notes that nitrates and fecal matter found in meat should be a far greater concern), it\u2019s easy to see why such claims are so alarming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEssentially impossible\u201d is markedly different from \u201cimpossible.\u201d Even a one-in-a-quadrillion chance of contracting real cancer from fake meat is not a worthwhile trade-off for many people.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Fassler admits this is a concern when he notes that \u201cscientists aren\u2019t as quick as journalists to use the words \u2018essentially impossible\u2019 in writing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite the informal scientific consensus around the safety of immortalized cells, there just aren\u2019t any long-term health studies to prove it,\u201d Fassler wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Again, phrases such as \u201cinformal scientific consensus\u201d and the lack of \u201clong-term health studies\u201d are not doing the synthetic meat industry any favors.<\/p>\n<p>Also not helping the synthetic meat industries: The boastful claims emanating from the industry\u2019s top executives seem too good to be true for many.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cYou just need a cell,\u201d one synthetic meat company CEO said in June, per Bloomberg. \u201cFrom that one cell, you can make billions of pounds of meat.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There are also the simple ethical concerns of using immortalized cells. The entire practice began when cervical cancer cells were taken from a woman without her consent or knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Just as much of a concern for many: Even Bloomberg admits that the synthetic meat industry is being mum on the whole topic to begin with \u2014 and are aware of how suspicious they look in doing so.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cNonetheless, interviews with dozens of current and former employees, executives, investors, analysts and other insiders, as well as reviews of the companies\u2019 regulatory filings and past statements, make clear that the cultured meat industry is anxious about its use of immortalized cells and is doing what it can to avoid the subject,\u201d Fassler wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With these meats now plowing full steam ahead thanks to the USDA, the synthetic meat industry may not have much of a choice when it comes to not wanting to discuss this controversial topic anymore.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/usda-decides-bill-gates-approved-fake-meat-cancer-tumors-totally-safe-eat\/\">USDA Decides on Bill Gates-Approved Fake Meat &#8211; Are These Cancer Tumors or Totally Safe to Eat?<\/a> appeared first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\">The Western Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bill Gates are thrilled, others remain skeptical as the USDA approves lab-grown meat.
