The following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/disney-box-office-losses-total-to-almost-900-million-from-recent-movies-according-to-analysis\/\" title=\"Disney movies have lost nearly 0 million at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/9-box-office-duds-that-became-cult-classics\/\" title=\"9 Box Office Duds That Became Cult Classics\">box office<\/a>, as per analysis.&#8221;>films suffered significant financial losses<\/a> during their release: \u201cLightyear,\u201d \u201cThor: Love and Thunder,\u201d \u201cStrange World,\u201d \u201cBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever,\u201d \u201cAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,\u201d \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,\u201d \u201cThe Little Mermaid,\u201d and \u201cElemental.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Valliant Renegade, the eight films cost $2.75 billion but only made $1.86 billion for Disney, resulting in a $890 million loss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStrange World\u201d lost $197 million, while \u201cLightyear\u201d lost $106 million, according to Deadline.<\/p>\n<p>Recent Disney films have incorporated \u201cwoke\u201d plot lines. The film \u201cStrange World\u201d included a gay romance, while the animated children\u2019s film \u201cLightyear\u201d showed lesbians kissing.<\/p>\n<p>The animated movie \u201cElemental\u201d discusses the dangers of xenophobia and also features the company\u2019s first non-binary character.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cOne of the things that we always talk about here, that is the perfect time to remind everybody, is that Disney consumes all of its own content post-theatrical,\u201d Valliant Renegade stated. \u201c\u2026Meaning that Disney that used to license their big content out like the entire MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe] to places like Netflix for years, those were billions of dollars\u2019 worth of third-party contracts that have now been taken off the table.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cSo not only do we need to consider how much money Disney has lost at the box office, we also need to consider how much money Disney has lost in economic-opportunity costs,\u201d the Hollywood analyst said in a video. \u201cYou see, that\u2019s how much money they could have made had they actually taken these films and licensed them to Netflix, or Amazon Prime, or even similar to what Universal does with a split Pay 1 window.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bob Iger took over as CEO of Disney in November, succeeding Bob Chapek.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives from the notable corporation said in February that it was conducting a \u201cstrategic restructuring.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Disney then announced 7,000 job cuts last month.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe 7,000 layoffs \u2014 which represent 3.2% of Disney\u2019s total headcount of about 220,000 worldwide as of Oct. 1, 2022 \u2014 are part of Disney\u2019s efforts to achieve about $5.5 billion in cost savings. Of that, $2.5 billion represents \u2018non-content costs\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blockfi-files-for-chapter-11-bankruptcy-protection-as-ftx-contagion-spreads\/\" title=\"BlockFi Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection as FTX Contagion Spreads\">including labor costs<\/a>) and $1 billion of those targeted cost-reductions were already underway in February, Iger said.
