The study revealed that these scams occur on various platforms, making it a widespread issue affecting the younger generation.<\/p>\n<h3>Disturbing Statistics<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>31% of those who experienced the scam admitted to sharing sexual material.<\/li>\n<li>25% disclosed private information.<\/li>\n<li>However, 38% reported that they did not share either.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Seeking Help and Taking Action<\/h3>\n<p>After falling victim to &#8220;sextortion,&#8221; 56% of the surveyed individuals or their friends sought assistance from a trusted adult, parent, or friend. Additionally, 51% reported the incident to the platform, a hotline, or law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, 38% took matters into their own hands by blocking the perpetrator, while 30% updated their account security and 26% went as far as closing their accounts altogether.<\/p>\n<p>It is crucial to address these alarming statistics and provide support to those affected by such scams.<\/p>\n<h2>Fentanyl Poisoning Cases Linked to Snapchat<\/h2>\n<p>In a separate investigation, the Justice Department and the FBI are currently looking into cases of fentanyl poisoning that were facilitated through Snapchat.
