monarchy of Saudi Arabia may be eyeing other American sports.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pga-tour-liv-golf-agree-merger-stunning-turn-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blockbuster merger<\/a> of LIV, a new golf tour controlled by Saudi Arabia\u2019s Public Investment Fund, with the American PGA Tour earlier this month, represents a major entry for the Saudis into American sports.<\/p>\n<p>And it might not be the last one.<\/p>\n<p>The fund\u2019s seemingly limitless <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-prepping-saudi-arabia-visit-plead-islamist-dictatorship-oil-production\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">oil wealth<\/a> renders it a competitor to wealthy American sports owners.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the sporting events already owned by the Saudi state include a Formula One race, World Wrestling Entertainment performances, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horseracingnation.com\/news\/Saudi_Cup_2023_Taiba_Country_Grammer_lead_U_S_nominees_123\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Saudi Cup<\/a>, the most lucrative horse race in the world, according to the U.K. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2023\/jun\/09\/saudi-arabia-soccer-golf-nba-nfl-sportswashing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guardian<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Prince <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/saudi-arabias-leader-gives-bidens-oil-plea-cold-shoulder-turns-putin-instead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mohammed bin Salman<\/a> coerced British Prime Minister Boris Johnson into facilitating the nation\u2019s purchase of a franchise in the English Premier League in 2021, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/06\/10\/after-liv-golf-pga-merger-what-sports-are-next-for-saudis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Clubs within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/megan-rapinoe-reportedly-worth-millions-claims-she-is-disrespected-and-dismissed-over-gender\/\" title=\"Megan Rapinoe, Reportedly Worth Millions, Claims She Is \u2018Disrespected And Dismissed\u2019 Over Gender\">soccer league<\/a> had opposed Saudi ownership of Newcastle United on the grounds of the country\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cyber-arms-dealer-exploits-new-iphone-software-vulnerability-say-researchers\/\" title=\"Cyber Arms Dealer Exploits New iPhone Software Vulnerability, Say Researchers\">poor human rights record<\/a> and opposition to Western concepts such as liberty and democracy.<\/p>\n<p>The Saudi Public Investment Fund has been linked to American sporting businesses such as Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, the National Basketball Association and even the Los Angeles Olympic Committee, according to the Post.<\/p>\n<p>National Football League insiders don\u2019t rule out the possibility that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-saudi-arabian-prince-gets-new-title-scheme-can-avoid-us-murder-suit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saudi Arabia\u2019s<\/a> Public Investment Fund could purchase a stake in a team, or buy a franchise outright, according to the sports-news website <a href=\"https:\/\/sportsnaut.com\/nfl-saudi-arabia-money-team-ownership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sportsnaut<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/2023\/06\/07\/commanders-tank-first-pick-nfl-mailbag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">June 7 column<\/a>, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated suggested the door was open to the possibility after speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nfl-fans-confused-players-don-foreign-flags-league-oks-communist-china-cuba-alongside-us-flag\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">league<\/a> presidents on the topic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hit up a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pga-merger-just-the-start-saudis-eyeing-these-iconic-american-sports\/\" title=\"Saudi Arabia's interest in iconic American sports goes beyond the PGA merger.\">couple team president types<\/a>, and while I think starting a whole league isn\u2019t happening, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s out of line to consider the idea that they could someday bid on an NFL team, and maybe even buy one,\u201d Breer wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The NFL would have to change a rule barring public companies from owning teams in order for a team to fall into the ownership of the Saudi state.<\/p>\n<p>For many Americans, the suspected involvement of the Saudi government in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/saudi-arabia-shows-anti-extremism-terrorism-efforts-9-11-anniversary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>9\/11 Families United
