He then expressed the wish to \u201cresolve this before it got out of hand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow means tonight,\u201d Biden said, warning that if anyone other than Zhao, \u201cZhang, or the chairman\u201d tried to reach out about the matter, \u201cI will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5260895\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/05\/12\/id5260895-GettyImages-1246787698-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    Joe Biden, with son Hunter Biden, arrives at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base in Syracuse, New York, on Feb. 4, 2023. In 2019, Biden said, \u201cI never talked with my son or my brother or anyone else\u2014even distant family\u2014about their business interests. Period.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>White House Press Secretary and National Security Council Spokesperson Deflect Questions<\/h3>\n<p>When White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and spokesperson for White House National Security Council John Kirby were pressed on the allegations, they deflected the questions.<\/p>\n<p>James Rosen of Newsmax was the first to ask about the texts while Kirby was at the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Rosen asked whether the allegations contradict Biden\u2019s claim, repeated through the course of the 2020 election, that he was not involved in his son\u2019s business dealings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, and I\u2019m not going to comment further on this,\u201d Kirby said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5316356\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/06\/06\/id5316356-06062023-DSC08729-Kirby-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby speaks during the press briefing at the White House in Washington on June 6, 2023. (Madalina Vasiliu\/The Epoch Times)<br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<h2>Jean-Pierre Ducks Questions<\/h2>\n<p>Later, after Jean-Pierre took the podium, a CNN reporter asked about the president\u2019s decision to invite his son to a White House state dinner the same day the allegations came to light.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just not gonna get into family discussions,\u201d Jean-Pierre replied, calling the topic a \u201cpersonal family discussion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you know, Hunter\u2019s his son, I\u2019m just not going to get into it\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reporter asked, referencing Biden\u2019s recently announced plea deal with the Department of Justice (DOJ), \u201cIf Hunter Biden was not the president\u2019s son, would he [Joe Biden] have invited someone who had just reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5295156\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/05\/26\/id5295156-EpochImages-1945438842-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    The U.S. Department of Justice building in Washington on March 28, 2023.(Madalina Vasiliu\/The Epoch Times)<br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAgain, that\u2019s his son; he\u2019s a family member. It is not uncommon for family members to attend events at the White House,\u201d Jean-Pierre replied. \u201cAs it relates to anything related to Hunter, I\u2019m just not gonna respond to it from up here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times\u2019s Peter Baker pushed Jean-Pierre to answer Rosen\u2019s earlier question to Kirby, saying \u201cKirby wouldn\u2019t answer James\u2019s question; are you gonna answer the question? It\u2019s not an unreasonable question to ask if the president of the United States was involved, as this message seems to suggest, in some sort of a coercive conversation for business dealings by his son. If he wasn\u2019t, then maybe you should tell us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere\u2019s the thing\u2014I appreciate the question, I believe my colleague at the White House counsel has answered this question already, has dealt with this, has made it very clear,\u201d Jean-Pierre. \u201cI just don\u2019t have anything to share outside of what my colleagues have shared, and so I would refer you to him and the DOJ. Just not gonna comment from here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That seemed to be a reference to a brief from White House spokesman Ian Sams on June 20, following Hunter Biden\u2019s guilty plea on two federal counts of tax crime and one count of illegally owning a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president and first lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life,\u201d said a statement from Sams to The Epoch Times. \u201cWe will have no further comment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As another reporter was heard shouting about a \u201ctext message,\u201d Jean-Pierre cut in, \u201cWhat I can tell you is I know that my colleague has dealt with this, he addressed this at the White House counsel, I just don\u2019t have anything to share.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Chaos in Press Room<\/h2>\n<p>At this point, chaos erupted in the White House press room as several reporters\u2014including representatives from CBS and NBC\u2014began to speak over each other seeking a more substantive answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just answered the question, I just answered the question,\u201d Jean Pierre said above the hubbub.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not up to you how I answer the question,\u201d she said when pressed further. \u201cI just answered the question by telling you my colleagues at the White House counsel has [sic] dealt with this, and I would refer you to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked by Rosen whether she would stand by her statements affirming Biden\u2019s claim during the 2020 election that he never discussed business with his son, Jean-Pierre replied, \u201cWhat I will say is that nothing has changed. Nothing has changed. And I will leave it there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo this is not a change?\u201d Rosen pressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just answered the question,\u201d Jean-Pierre replied.<\/p>\n<p>Another reporter followed up, asking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/media-say-bidens-female-led-comms-is-a-first-trump-has-that-now\/\" title=\"Media Say Biden's Female-Led Comms Is A First.
