Her term expires on June 30, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years she was involved with the creation of the state\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/30000-noncitizens-in-colorado-receive-voter-registration-notices\/\" title=\"30,000 Noncitizens in Colorado Receive Voter Registration Notices\">online voter registration system<\/a> and election cyber security enhancement and is credited with overseeing the distribution of grant funds to municipalities from 2019 through 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Wolfe received national recognition for serving as chairperson of the Election Registration Information Center (ERIC).<\/p>\n<p>A major critic of Wolfe\u2019s performance as WEC administrator is election integrity firebrand Janel Brandtjen.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4746346\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/09\/21\/Janel-Brandtjen.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    Wisconsin State Assemblywoman Janel Brandtjen. Brandtjen (R), told The Epoch Times that Wolfe\u2019s tenure had been marked by missteps, failures, abuse of authority, and outright flouting of the state\u2019s election laws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Meagan Wolfe is reappointed by the members of WEC, I do not believe that the state senate will confirm her this time,\u201d said Brandtjen.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans control the 33-seat upper chamber 22 to 11.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A Look at the Record<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To back up her criticism of Wolfe, Brandtjen cited a <a href=\"https:\/\/will-law.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/2021ElectionReviewSummary-web.pdf\">study<\/a> published in December 2021 by the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) that examined WEC\u2019s conducting of the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>WILL is a non-profit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wisconsin-elections-chief-meagan-wolfe-faces-uphill-battle-for-reappointment\/\" title=\"Meagan Wolfe, Wisconsin's Elections Chief, Struggles for Reappointment\">public-interest law firm based<\/a> in Milwaukee. The institute specializes in individual liberty cases, as well as cases involving education reform and election integrity.<\/p>\n<p>The study found that with Wolfe at the helm, WEC oversaw the casting of <strong>\u201ca significant number of ballots\u201d<\/strong> that did not meet <strong>\u201cstatutory requirements or statutory intent.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs recently confirmed by the Legislative Audit Bureau, the widespread adoption of absentee ballot drop boxes, encouraged by the Wisconsin Elections Commission, runs afoul of state law\u2026 (and) the ad hoc adoption of absentee ballot drop boxes without established rules, parameters, or security presents an election vulnerability\u2026,\u201d the study said.<\/p>\n<p>On Wolfe\u2019s watch, in the pandemic year of 2020, over 265,979 Wisconsin voters were allowed to claim that they were <strong>\u201cindefinitely confined\u201d<\/strong> in their homes and needed absentee ballots which enabled them to vote without photo ID.<\/p>\n<p>More than 54,000 of those ballots were cast by individuals who <strong>\u201chave never shown a voter ID in any election,\u2019<\/strong> the study reported.<\/p>\n<p>Only 66,611 people voted under indefinitely confined status in the 2016 presidential election.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>State Laws Ignored<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Under Wolfe, the Wisconsin Elections Commission <strong>\u201cunlawfully suspended the use of Special Voting Deputies for nursing homes and assisted living facilities in 2020 \u2013shrugging off standards in state law for the distribution and collection of absentee ballots in those settings,\u201d<\/strong> according to the study.<\/p>\n<p>This and other findings by WILL were confirmed by the investigation of Special Counsel and former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman.<\/p>\n<p>A poll of 2,000 supposed absentee voters conducted by WILL discovered that <strong>\u201ca surprisingly high percentage\u201d<\/strong> of them said they did not cast an absentee ballot, yet they are recorded as having voted absentee.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, WEC allowed the financial assistance of the Zuckerberg grant program that ostensibly was designed to ensure that municipalities had a healthy and safe general election.<\/p>\n<p>According to an analysis by WILL, that grant assistance had the effect of increasing Democrat voter turnout by 8,000 votes statewide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrivate funding disproportionately benefitted Democrats\u2026No statistically significant effect was found for Trump,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Federal and State Laws Flouted<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The study also found that though state and federal law requires Wisconsin to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lawsuit-forces-los-angeles-county-to-remove-1-2-million-ineligible-voters-from-rolls\/\" title=\"Lawsuit Forces Los Angeles County To Remove 1.2 Million Ineligible Voters From Rolls\">maintain accurate voter rolls<\/a>, under Wolfe\u2019s leadership, WEC and local clerks <strong>\u201crefused to take the required steps to remove outdated and inaccurate voter registrations.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WILL investigators found that 23,361 Wisconsin voters cast ballots despite discrepancies in their voter registration records, in which their names, addresses, and birthdates failed to match the Deptartment of Motor Vehicles files.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Unequal Treatment?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The study discovered that under WEC\u2019s oversight, local election practices regarding the potentially illegal <strong>\u201ccuring\u201d<\/strong> of mistakes on cast absentee ballots were not uniform.<\/p>\n<p>The lack of uniformity between localities in the fixing and rejecting of cast ballots raises questions of <strong>\u201cfair and equal treatment,\u201d<\/strong> the report said.<\/p>\n<p>The WILL study said, <strong>\u201cState law provides no legal authority for local election officials to fix, or \u2018cure\u2019 defects, mistakes, or missing information on absentee ballots.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut the Wisconsin Elections Commission said they could\u2014resulting in some municipalities curing ballots while others did not.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result of WEC\u2019s lawless advice to local officials, no standard practices were employed to cure ballots,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4371877\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/03\/30\/wisconsin-drop-box-1200x800-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n    Residents drop mail-in ballots in a ballot box outside of the Tippecanoe branch library in Milwaukee, Wis., on Oct. 20, 2020.
