Of all the highly-contested states, however, it\u2019s Michigan where such defeats have proven the most consequential. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to reelecting <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/gretchen-whitmer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gov. Gretchen Whitmer<\/a> and giving Democrats total control of the state legislature, Michigan voters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlive.com\/politics\/2022\/12\/props-1-2-and-3-are-in-michigans-constitution-what-happens-now.html?outputType=amp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">passed<\/a> Props 2 and 3 \u2014 two ballot initiatives that <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/13\/conservatives-cant-let-democrats-midterm-assault-on-kids-and-elections-fall-through-the-cracks-in-michigan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">enshrined<\/a> both the left\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/12\/democrat-majority-michigan-supreme-court-greenlights-democrat-plan-to-take-over-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">election takeover<\/a> and rights to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/12\/michigan-is-hiding-a-childrens-constitutional-right-to-genital-amputation-in-its-abortion-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abortion and kids\u2019 trans surgeries<\/a> into the state\u2019s constitution. As a result, neither Michigan\u2019s elections nor its unborn are safe from leftist policies.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1229456719\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-423b0cff2acf0fcdf331c4a66f871164 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-423b0cff2acf0fcdf331c4a66f871164\"><\/div>\n<p>Over just a few short months, Michigan Democrats have been hard at work dismantling the state\u2019s election system by advancing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mifairelections.org\/post\/last-chance-to-contact-your-representatives-senators-about-these-election-related-bills\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">legislation<\/a> expanding the use of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/meet-the-nonpartisan-dark-money-group-rigging-michigan-elections-so-democrats-cant-lose\/\" title=\"Dark-money group rigging Michigan elections to prevent Democratic losses.\">state-funded ballot drop boxes<\/a> and gutting safeguards for mail-in voting. Regarding Prop 3, Whitmer signed into law in April a measure <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/madelineleesman\/2023\/04\/08\/whitmer-repeals-century-old-abortion-law-n2621600\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repealing<\/a> a 1931 statute that banned baby-killing in Michigan.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A New Strategy Is Born <\/h2>\n<p>Yes, Michigan\u2019s passage of Props 2 and 3 ensured significant policy wins for Democrats. But it also gave them an idea on how to further embed their radical agenda into law \u2014 even in states where they don\u2019t hold government power. <\/p>\n<p>Prior to the 2022 midterms, it was Republicans who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/local\/detroit\/2022\/11\/10\/michigan-democrats-flip-legislature\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">controlled<\/a> both chambers of the Michigan Legislature. While able to act through executive fiat, Whitmer was largely prevented from passing any of the radical bills she and Michigan Democrats are now ramming through the legislature. Faced with a GOP firewall, Michigan Democrats turned to a new means of advancing their agenda: The ballot amendment process. <\/p>\n<p>In a matter of months, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgemi.com\/michigan-government\/2022-michigan-ballot-issues-tracker-what-know-about-election-proposals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coalitions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/antifa-blm-vandalize-ice-building-burn-original-starbucks\/\" title=\"Antifa, BLM vandalize ICE building, burn original Starbucks\">left-wing groups<\/a><\/a> orchestrated a statewide campaign, collecting signatures to have Prop 2 and 3 placed on the ballot for Michigan\u2019s 2022 elections. While initially failing to secure approval from the state\u2019s board of canvassers, both proposals were given life after the Michigan Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/12\/democrat-majority-michigan-supreme-court-greenlights-democrat-plan-to-take-over-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruled<\/a> they could appear on the November ballot. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4dfbf5afb9275988fc3cffde568b0921 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4dfbf5afb9275988fc3cffde568b0921\"><\/div>\n<p>After receiving the green light from Michigan\u2019s highest court, out-of-state, left-wing groups such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/planned-parenthood-midterm-elections-50-million\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Planned Parenthood<\/a> began pouring millions of dollars into the state to sway voters into supporting their bid to overall Michigan\u2019s constitution. <\/p>\n<p>In the end, their efforts proved successful. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Democrat Game Plan For Future Elections<\/h2>\n<p>The outcome of Michigan\u2019s 2022 elections taught Democrats a lesson: Advancing policy doesn\u2019t require legislative majorities or control of the executive, but rather the willpower and money needed to convince enough voters to approve it.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker has all but admitted such a strategy could be used to entrench abortion into state constitutions across the country. In April, Pritzker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/04\/07\/politics\/democrats-abortion-ballot-measures-2024\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> CNN he thinks Democrats \u201cshould put the right to choose on every ballot across the country in 2024 \u2014 not just with the candidates we choose, but with referendum efforts to enshrine reproductive rights in states where right-wing politicians are stripping those rights away.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e48498b9c5c227afbdd8f8680e189593 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e48498b9c5c227afbdd8f8680e189593\"><\/div>\n<p>Such efforts are already underway in Republican-controlled states like Ohio, where pro-abortion activists are in the process of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/meet-the-press\/meetthepressblog\/advocates-ohio-push-get-constitutional-amendment-abortion-november-bal-rcna90652%5C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">collecting signatures<\/a> to have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-the-ballot-amendment-process-became-democrats-new-strategy-to-entrench-their-agenda-into-law\/\" title=\"Democrats have adopted the ballot amendment process to solidify their agenda in law.\">constitutional amendment proposal allowing abortions \u201c<\/a>up until fetal viability\u201d to be placed on the ballot this November. Relatedly, Ohio voters will be voting on a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/14\/the-ohio-supreme-courts-ballot-amendment-ruling-is-not-the-win-democrats-think-it-is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">separate proposal<\/a> during an Aug. 8 special election that would require constitutional amendment proposals to receive approval from 60 percent of voters rather than a simple majority.<\/p>\n<p>Left-wing activists in red states such as <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Florida_Prohibit_Laws_Restricting_Abortion_Initiative_(2024)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Florida<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/South_Dakota_Right_to_Abortion_Amendment_(2024)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South Dakota<\/a> \u2014 both of which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frc.org\/prolifemaps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">passed<\/a> pro-life legislation within the past year \u2014 are also in the process of gathering signatures to potentially have pro-abortion initiatives appear on their states\u2019 respective ballots for upcoming elections. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Democrat-controlled states such as New York and Maryland have already <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/2023_and_2024_abortion-related_ballot_measures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">passed<\/a> such proposals that will be considered by voters during the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats\u2019 hope is that if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-condemns-d-c-demonstrators-despite-past-encouragement-of-violent-blm-mobs\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris condemns D.C. demonstrators despite past encouragement of violent BLM mobs\">left-wing activists<\/a> in red or purple states can get their policy proposals placed on the ballot, out-of-state money from leftist mega-donors and campaigning by these activists will be enough to turn out sympathetic voters in blue localities. The goal is to convince enough voters to overhaul their state\u2019s constitution, no matter how damaging or repulsive the policies will be. <\/p>\n<p>If voters in \u201cred\u201d states like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/aug\/2\/kansas-voters-reject-pro-life-amendment-state-cons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kansas<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/kentucky-voters-reject-amendment-to-solidify-pro-life-protections-in-state-constitution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kentucky<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/montana-rejects-ballot-measure-require-medical-care-infants-born-alive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Montana<\/a> can be convinced to reject pro-life amendments, then there\u2019s not to believe it can\u2019t happen everywhere else.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-099db0d05ed5807259e3a22e2f776950 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-099db0d05ed5807259e3a22e2f776950\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republicans faced disappointing electoral outcomes in the 2022 midterms, particularly in Michigan.
