However, his chances of making it to the debate stage are uncertain due to the criteria set by the Republican National Committee (RNC).<\/p>\n<p>The RNC announced the requirements for participating in the first debate, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/latest-presidential-candidate-gets-bad-news-after-entering-the-race\/\" title=\"New Presidential Candidate Receives Unfavorable Update Upon Joining Race\">include meeting polling<\/a> and donor thresholds, as well as signing a loyalty pledge to support the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-bloomberg-presidential-campaign-staffers-hit-with-tax-bills-on-income-higher-than-their-salaries\/\" title=\"Former Bloomberg Presidential Campaign Staffers Hit With Tax Bills On Income Higher Than Their Salaries\">eventual nominee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hurd, known for his criticism of former President Donald Trump, made it clear that he will not sign the RNC&#8217;s loyalty pledge and will not support Trump if he becomes the nominee. In an interview with CNN&#8217;s Kaitlan Collins, Hurd expressed his belief that parties should not manipulate the debate stage and that he refuses to lie to the American people for political gain.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I won&#8217;t be signing any kind of pledges, and I don&#8217;t think that parties should be trying to rig who should be on a debate stage,&#8221; said Hurd. &#8220;Donald Trump is not going to sign that pledge either, and part of it was designed to put him in that place.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am not in the business of lying to the American people in order to get a microphone, and I&#8217;m not going to support Donald Trump, and so I can&#8217;t honestly say I&#8217;m going to sign something even if he may or may not be the nominee,&#8221; Hurd added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When asked about his stance on the RNC&#8217;s rules, Hurd simply stated, &#8220;the RNC can do whatever the RNC wants to do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hurd emphasized that his only commitments are to the American flag, his wife, and the Constitution. He, along with former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, criticized the RNC&#8217;s loyalty pledge.
