It&#8217;s worth noting that Alabama received $2.16 billion in 2022 for SNAP participants, which includes temporary COVID-19 relief from 2020 through 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 761,100 Alabama residents, accounting for 15% of the state&#8217;s population, participated in SNAP in 2022. Nationally, 12% of the total United States population participated in SNAP. On average, SNAP households across the country received around $240 a month in 2019 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p>If you are eligible for SNAP benefits, the monthly amount should be available for use through the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. This card functions similarly to a debit card and can be swiped at grocery store checkouts.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama beneficiaries can conveniently check the status of their SNAP benefits, the next available benefit date, recent transaction history, and other additional information through the MyDHR portal.
