The French ship L\u2019Atalante joined in the effort, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2023\/06\/22\/cost-of-us-coast-guard-search-for-titanic-sub\/70342718007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">did<\/a> three C-130 aircraft and three C-17 transport planes from the U.S. military.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Boyer, the executive director of the National Association for Search and Rescue, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/06\/22\/us\/titanic-submersible-search-rescue-costs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the rescue mission would \u201cprobably cost millions.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s no different than if a private citizen goes out and his boat sinks,\u201d retired Admiral Paul Zukunft, who led the U.S. Coast Guard from 2014-2018, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2023\/06\/21\/titanic-sub-coast-guard-search\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a>. \u201cWe go out and recover him.
