Jackson, so there\u2019s some acting talent behind it.<\/p>\n<p>Animation talent, however, is somewhat lacking \u2014 particularly when it came to the opening sequence, which was created by AI.<\/p>\n<p>However, does <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-democratic-congressman-admits-speech-written-artificial-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">artificial intelligence<\/a> equal artificial creativity? It certainly appears a bit cheap, particularly for a series featuring Jackson reprising his Nick Fury role.<\/p>\n<p>More important, however, it could signal a dirty trick that leaves the studio\u2019s animators out of a job.<\/p>\n<p>On Twitter, concept artist Jeff Simpson \u2014 who worked on \u201cSecret Invasion\u201d \u2014 expressed his disgust.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecret Invasion intro is AI generated. I\u2019m devastated, I believe AI to be unethical, dangerous and designed solely to eliminate artists careers. Spent almost half a year working on this show and had a fantastic experience working with the most amazing people I ever met,\u201d he said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI worked with the Vis Dev team on character design, props, keyframes for the show etc. and nothing to do with the intro which would have been done much later I assume \u2014 to clarify.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that it appears the AI-developed opening credits were outsourced to Method Studios.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Looks like it was outsourced to Method Studios. In fact, this maybe isn\u2019t the first time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/johnny-depp-enacts-revenge-disney-company-made-big-mistake-dropping\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disney<\/a> has been caught using it as a shortcut on its streaming service.<\/p>\n<p>A crowd scene from the Disney+ feature \u201cProm Pact\u201d was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/literally-jumped-seeing-creepy-editing-fail-new-disney-movie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scrutinized<\/a> when it was released earlier this year when what appeared to be AI-generated individuals appeared in a crowd scene:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">this is just terrifying <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OKW0uSrpX5\">https:\/\/t.co\/OKW0uSrpX5<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EYaU0gZi3t\">pic.twitter.com\/EYaU0gZi3t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 kayla (@lgbtjetneys) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lgbtjetneys\/status\/1642437524026195968?\">April 2, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Disney did not comment when the\u00a0U.K.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/disney-plus-viewers-notice-horrible-040208148.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Independent<\/a> reached out about it.<\/p>\n<p>Given that \u201cProm Pact\u201d was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/parents-beware-disney-features-gay-christmas-doc-even-admit-isnt-safe-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disney+<\/a> exclusive, one might charitably call it a made-for-TV movie in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/disneys-dirty-trick-noticed-by-twitter-users-could-this-change-the-film-industry-forever\/\" title=\"Disney's sneaky move caught by Twitter users - Will it revolutionize the film industry?\">current streaming model context<\/a>. Whatever the case, it somehow managed to look even worse than the opening sequence to \u201cSecret Invasion,\u201d which is indeed saying something.<\/p>\n<p>But, perhaps most important, the AI-generated opening sequence for \u201cSecret Invasion\u201d came as the Writers Guild of America is on strike \u2014 and AI-generated content is one of the strikers\u2019 chief concerns:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The Secret Invasion AI credits is such an insane miscalculation by Marvel in that it A) immediately created noxious buzz around the premiere of their new program, and B) only further validates AI concerns RIGHT as actors and directors are on the verge of striking because of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jonathan (@jonathanmb32) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jonathanmb32\/status\/1671549837953646594?\">June 21, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It also picked another scab off a wound, again shedding light on the fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disney-never-learns-another-expensive-woke-animated-film-studio-flops-hard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disney<\/a> \u2014 and its Marvel unit in particular \u2014 underpays and overworks visual artists and engages in \u201cbullying\u201d to meet strict deadlines.<\/p>\n<p>According to the U.K.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2022\/aug\/03\/marvel-disney-visual-effects-artists-speak-out\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guardian<\/a>, Dhruv Govil, one of the artists on \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy\u201d and \u201cSpider-Man: Homecoming,\u201d made news last summer after a now-deleted tweet thread in which he blew the whistle on Disney\u2019s practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking on #Marvel shows is what pushed me to leave the VFX industry,\u201d Govil wrote. \u201cThey\u2019re a horrible client, and I\u2019ve seen way too many colleagues break down after being overworked, while Marvel tightens the purse strings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue is #Marvel is too big, and can demand whatever they want. It\u2019s a toxic relationship,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Another artist talked about the culture of bullying and long hours imposed by Marvel in a piece for New York Magazine\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/a-vfx-artist-on-what-its-like-working-for-marvel.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vulture<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty well known and even darkly joked about across all the visual-effects houses that working on Marvel shows is really hard,\u201d the person said in the July 2022 article. \u201cWhen I worked on one movie, it was almost six months of overtime every day. I was working seven days a week, averaging 64 hours a week on a good week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarvel genuinely works you really hard. I\u2019ve had co-workers sit next to me, break down, and start crying. I\u2019ve had people having anxiety attacks on the phone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The issue is that Marvel and Disney have \u201ca lot of power over the effects houses, just because it has so many blockbuster movies coming out one after the other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So, the production companies often underbid each other and then work hard to fulfill the whims of directors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe other thing with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/marvel-gets-rid-iconic-beloved-superhero-many-conservatives-like-guy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marvel<\/a> is it\u2019s famous for asking for lots of changes throughout the process,\u201d the artist said. \u201cSo you\u2019re already overworked, and then Marvel\u2019s asking for regular changes way in excess of what any other client does. Some of those changes are really major. Maybe a month or two before a movie comes out, Marvel will have us change the entire third act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joe Pavlo, an Emmy-winning visual effects artist who talked to The Guardian, said he wasn\u2019t surprised after his work on \u201cGuardians of the Galaxy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe visual effects industry is filled with terrific people with lots of goodwill who really care, but, at the end of the day, there\u2019s nothing in place when their backs are up against the wall and Disney is making crazy demands,\u201d Pavlo said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the goodwill in the world just evaporates when everything gets changed and they decide they\u2019re replacing that character with a different actor or changing the entire environment \u2014 they\u2019re now in a pizza restaurant instead of a cornfield. It can be that extreme at the very last minute \u2026 It can be characterized as bullying but filtered through multiple layers of management and supervisor and hierarchy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Quite the irony, then, that one of the wokest companies in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/princess-bride-star-tells-cruz-he-has-contempt-for-him-cruz-fires-back-photo-that-star-signed-to-him\/\" title=\"\u2018Princess Bride\u2019 Star Tells Cruz He Has \u2018Contempt\u2019 For Him.
