To entice Bloom, Rush offered him a discounted price of $150,000, down from the previous price of $250,000.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cMy son\u2019s friend researched what could go wrong and put a little scare in him,\u201d Bloom texted Rush the morning of February 3. \u201cI\u2019m trying to talk him down. He\u2019s excited to go but concerned about the danger.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m happy to have a video call with him. Curious what the uninformed would say the danger is and whether it\u2019s real or imagined,\u201d Rush responded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/whale-hunting-ship-found-in-gulf-of-mexico-nearly-two-centuries-after-going-down-in-treacherous-storm\/\" title=\"Whale Hunting Ship Found In Gulf Of Mexico \u2014 Nearly Two Centuries After Going Down In Treacherous Storm\">sperm whale<\/a> attacks the sub or a giant whale grabs it and compromises the hull. Really stupid stuff,\u201d Bloom responded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cYeah very stupid the pressure is over 100 million pounds no sperm whale or squid is ever going to mess with the sub,\u201d Rush wrote. \u201cWhile there\u2019s obviously risk it\u2019s way safer than flying in a helicopter or even scuba diving. There hasn\u2019t even been an injury in 35 years in non-military subs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the aftermath of the tragedy, Bloom expressed his thoughts on Facebook, stating, \u201cI am sure he really believed what he was saying. But he was very wrong. \u2026 He was absolutely convinced that it was safer than crossing the street.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bloom also referenced the recent death of actor Treat Williams, 71, who tragically died on June 12 after his motorcycle collided with an SUV.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cRIP Stockton and crew,\u201d Bloom continued. \u201cAs for Sean and I, after this right on the heels of losing Treat Williams, another friend of 25 years and former business partner, we are going to take a minute to stop and smell the roses. Tomorrow is never promised. Make the most of today.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Rush spoke with CBS News reporter David Pogue on his podcast \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/5niNsr3iDOEnDUxSi98jTq?si=7afea5aa494a45ea&#038;nd=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unsung Science<\/a>\u201d in 2022 about a prospective trip to see the legendary shipwreck some 12,500 feet below the Atlantic surface off of Newfoundland.<\/p>\n<p>Rush acknowledged the dangers involved in his work, stating, \u201cThere\u2019s a limit. At some point, safety just is pure waste. If you just want to be safe, don\u2019t get out of bed, don\u2019t get into your car, don\u2019t do anything.
