However, it narrowly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-joint-resolution\/44\/actions\">failed<\/a> in the Senate by just one vote, with a final tally of 49-50.<\/p>\n<p>The rule in question, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atf.gov\/rules-and-regulations\/factoring-criteria-firearms-attached-stabilizing-braces\">finalized<\/a> by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in January, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dems-in-n-calif-city-pass-law-requiring-gun-owners-to-purchase-liability-insurance-for-firearms\/\" title=\"Dems in N. Calif. city pass law requiring gun owners to purchase liability insurance for firearms\">requires gun owners<\/a> to register their AR-15-style pistols before June 1. This applies to pistols fitted with arm braces that could potentially allow firing from the shoulder, as they are now classified as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-democrats-shoot-down-measure-to-block-biden-pistol-brace-rule\/\" title=\"Senate Democrats reject proposal to block Biden's pistol brace rule.\">short-barreled rifles regulated<\/a> by the National Firearm Act.<\/p>\n<p>Failure to comply with the regulation by the June 1 deadline can result in felony charges, carrying penalties of up to 10 years in jail or $10,000 in fines, or both, according to the ATF.<\/p>\n<p>Opposition to the ATF rule has been strong among Republicans and Second Amendment advocacy groups. They argue that the regulation would criminalize millions of law-abiding Americans unless they navigate a burdensome and costly registration process or destroy the accessory they legally obtained.<\/p>\n<p>During the Senate debate, Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) made a powerful statement by bringing a pistol brace to the floor <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenJohnKennedy\/status\/1671965337896493059\">to demonstrate<\/a> its purpose. He emphasized that the device is primarily designed to assist individuals with disabilities, particularly handicapped military veterans, in better defending themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden wants to outlaw as many as 40 million pistol braces in the United States,\u201d Kennedy stated. \u201cThe vast majority of these braces are owned by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-sheriffs-tell-newsom-they-wont-enforce-covid-curfew\/\" title=\"California Sheriffs Tell Newsom They Won't Enforce COVID Curfew\">law-abiding citizens<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further argued that a regulatory agency like the ATF does not possess the constitutional authority to unilaterally ban pistol braces without explicit approval from Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) also condemned the regulation, describing it as an &#8220;u&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Senate rejected a GOP resolution opposing Biden&#8217;s pistol brace rule.
