Lauren Boebert\u2019s (R-CO) resolution to impeach President Biden over his immigration policies to the Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pp3RPsnndK\">pic.twitter.com\/pp3RPsnndK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Recount (@therecount) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/therecount\/status\/1671947735673749504?\">June 22, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The final results of the party-line voting mean that, not unlike any other bill, the articles of impeachment will now move forward to the Judiciary and Homeland Security committees for review.<\/p>\n<p>The AP framed the committee reviews as something of a stalling tactic for Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, who reportedly wants to avoid such calls for impeachment from moving even further forward.<\/p>\n<p>Boebert described the House vote as a <strong>\u201chistoric action,\u201d<\/strong> though AP also noted that neither of the two committees had an <strong>\u201cobligation to act.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Democrats, meanwhile, are furiously complaining about all of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday they\u2019re dishonoring this House and dishonoring themselves by bringing to the floor this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-impeachment-bill-passes-house-heres-what-happens-next\/\" title=\"House passes Biden impeachment bill, next steps explained.\">ridiculous impeachment referral resolution<\/a>,\u201d Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Jim McGovern said.<\/p>\n<p>McGovern added that he felt that former President Donald Trump was putting up his staunchest Republican allies to the task for little more reason than to hurt Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis body has become a place where extreme, outlandish and nutty issues get debated passionately, and important ones not at all,\u201d McGovern said.<\/p>\n<p>McGovern, not mincing words, added: <strong>\u201cIn short, the Republican Party is a joke.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Curiously, McGovern\u2019s reaction largely mirrors that of conservatives and Republicans who feel that the indictment of former President Donald Trump is also <strong>\u201ca joke.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many within that sphere feel that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-trump-indictment-unsealed-worse-initially-reported\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">37 charges<\/a> against Trump are largely spurious and weaponized.<\/p>\n<p>Should these articles of impeachment move forward, or even materialize altogether, the line of succession would appoint Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kamala-harris-steps-biden-misses-event-undergo-two-day-procedure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kamala Harris<\/a> as president, with McCarthy being next in line after that.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-impeachment-bill-passes-house-happens-next\/\">Biden Impeachment Bill Passes House, Here&#8217;s What Happens Next<\/a> appeared first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\">The Western Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congressional committees will review articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden following a party-line vote on Thursday.
