And what plea deal did Mr. Biden just receive? A slap on the wrist for charges that have put other Americans behind bars. As I said, the federal government is not treating all taxpayers equally,\u201d Committee Chairman Jason Smith said during a press conference on Thursday.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier this week, the DOJ announced plans to charge the president\u2019s youngest son with two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/grassley-plea-deal-ignores-significant-body-of-evidence-of-hunter-bidens-other-criminal-schemes\/\" title=\"Grassley: Plea Deal Disregards Hunter Biden's Other Crimes\">federal misdemeanor counts<\/a> for failing to pay his taxes and one federal felony charge for illegally possessing a gun while addicted to illicit drugs.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-bidens-wrist-slap-on-gun-tax-crimes-is-a-complete-smokescreen\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden\u2019s Wrist Slap On Gun, Tax Crimes Is A Complete Smokescreen\">carefully orchestrated plea deal<\/a> between the DOJ and Hunter means the younger Biden will only face probation \u2014 not jail time \u2014 for the two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-lawyer-calls-irs-whistleblower-a-criminal\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Lawyer Calls IRS Whistleblower a Criminal\">misdemeanor tax charges<\/a>. If a judge accepts the deal, Hunter will also avoid the maximum of 10 years in jail and a $250,000 fine that comes with a felony gun charge because the DOJ doesn\u2019t plan to prosecute.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the American people read these transcripts, I think you\u2019ll see a level of criminality that I don\u2019t think anybody expected to see,\u201d Rep. Darin LaHood, R-Ill., said at the press conference on Thursday.<\/p>\n<h2>Deliberate Obstacles At Every Turn<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cI am blowing the whistle because the Delaware U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office, Department of Justice Tax, and Department of Justice provided preferential treatment and unchecked conflicts of interest in an important and high-profile investigation of the President\u2019s son, Hunter Biden,\u201d IRS supervisory agent Gary Shapley said in his <a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Whistleblower-1-Transcript_Redacted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">testimony<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Accumulating evidence shows exactly what Shapley alleged: the DOJ gave Hunter Biden \u201cpreferential treatment,\u201d \u201cslow-walked the investigation,\u201d and \u201cdid nothing to avoid obvious conflicts of interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The IRS first began investigating Hunter in 2018 in connection to a <a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Whistleblower-1-Transcript_Redacted.pdf\">\u201cforeign-based amateur online pornography platform.\u201d<\/a> When the FBI confirmed it was Hunter\u2019s laptop in November 2019, the IRS asked to look at laptop materials to seek evidence for potential tax crimes, but FBI officials choked its attempts to sift through the materials.<\/p>\n<p>By April 2020, Shapley, the supervisor of the Hunter case, was armed with affidavits to seek search warrants for the laptop and planned to conduct approximately 15 related interviews with potential witnesses. Instead of granting the IRS permission to execute any of these tools, DOJ officials dragged their feet, effectively denying them, he said. Shapley says that\u2019s because this was the same month President Joe Biden \u201cbecame the presumptive Democratic nominee for President.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By June 2020, Shapley raised red flags about this cross-agency stifling to his supervisor, who decided the IRS should ultimately submit to the DOJ\u2019s stifling of their investigation into Hunter. For the next two years, Shapley and his team uncovered new evidence of Biden corruption but could not act on it because of DOJ resistance.<\/p>\n<p>In one such case, Shapley\u2019s team uncovered a message from Hunter\u2019s WhatsApp to a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/01\/27\/chinese-elite-have-paid-some-31m-to-hunter-and-the-bidens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chinese communist party official Henry Zhao<\/a>. The angry text shows the younger Biden, \u201csitting here with my father,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/22\/hunter-biden-threatened-my-father-could-hold-a-grudge-in-extortive-message-to-chinese-associate-revealed-by-whistleblower\/\">demanding<\/a> a presumably financial \u201ccommitment\u201d be fulfilled \u201cbefore it gets out of hand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shapley said this message indicated the IRS should \u201csearch the guest house at the Bidens\u2019 Delaware residence where Hunter Biden stayed for a time.\u201d Assistant United States Attorney Lesley Wolf agreed that \u201cthere was more than enough probable cause for the physical search warrant there\u201d but blamed \u201coptics\u201d as the reason for the eventual denial.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to obstructing key steps in the IRS\u2019s investigation into Hunter, DOJ prosecutors also overlooked concerns about ethics and tried to remove Hunter\u2019s name from \u201celectronic search warrants, 2703(d) orders, and document requests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At one point, investigators began looking into potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act but were once again stifled by a lack of approval from the DOJ. A surprise IRS interview in December 2020 was similarly spoiled by the FBI which \u201chad notified Secret Service headquarters and the transition team about the planned actions the following day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis essentially tipped off a group of people very close to President Biden and Hunter Biden and gave this group an opportunity to obstruct the approach on the witnesses,\u201d Shapley said, noting that the IRS only got one \u201csubstantive\u201d interview out of 12 \u2014 with Biden family associate <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/10\/bidens-made-millions-exchanging-political-favors-for-foreign-money-then-tried-to-cover-it-up-oversight-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rob Walker<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The IRS tried several times over the course of the years-long investigation to charge Hunter with the information they had but the DOJ disapproved of doing so near the 2020 election because it would <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/16\/federal-prosecutor-deliberately-delayed-hunter-biden-probe-to-shield-2020-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hurt<\/a> Biden\u2019s presidential chances. When the IRS and U.S. Attorney David Weiss began to expand their potential charges to include Hunter\u2019s financial behavior in 2014 and 2015, Shapley said the D.C. U.S. attorney refused to allow it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe purposeful exclusion of the 2014 and 2015 years sanitized the most substantive criminal conduct and concealed material facts,\u201d Shapley warned.<\/p>\n<p>A second whistleblower <a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Whistleblower-2-Transcript_Redacted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirmed<\/a> that anytime investigators tried to follow agency protocols and go public, \u201cthere were always times to where we were always on an impending election cycle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was always the election being brought up,\u201d the whistleblower, whose name was redacted, said in his testimony.<\/p>\n<p>The IRS finally recommended felony tax evasion charges for 2014, 2018, and 2019 and misdemeanor tax charges for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 in January 2022. The DOJ made it clear that it did not concur with the recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>As evidenced by the DOJ\u2019s charges made public this week, only two of the five tax misdemeanor counts landed. None of the felony charges the IRS suggested would be announced or prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p>As Shapley noted in his testimony, \u201cThe only win for me is to not be fired or arrested or retaliated against.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Shapley said, \u201cSince October 2022, IRS CI has taken every opportunity to retaliate against me and my team\u201d including passing him over for a promotion \u201cfor which I was clearly most qualified\u201d and sending threats that were \u201csuppressing additional potential whistleblowers from coming forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even after IRS senior officials heard that Weiss and the DOJ were \u201cacting improperly\u201d they apparently granted a DOJ demand to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/16\/whistleblower-irs-removed-my-entire-investigative-team-on-the-hunter-biden-tax-probe-at-dojs-request\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">remove the entire team<\/a> from the Hunter Biden investigation.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Department of Justice allegedly hindered an IRS investigation into Hunter Biden to protect his father Joe Biden&#8217;s presidential campaign, according to whistleblower documents.
