The question he posed was so simple that even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-judge-blocks-bidens-mask-vaccine-mandates-for-texas-head-start-programs\/\" title=\"Federal Judge Blocks Biden's Mask, Vaccine Mandates for Texas Head Start Programs\">preschool-aged children<\/a> could answer it without difficulty.<\/p>\n<p>During a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/riley-gaines-blows-up-democrat-witness-testimony-during-trans-rights-hearing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hearing<\/a> titled \u201cProtecting Pride: Defending the Civil Rights of LGBTQ+ Americans,\u201d Cruz first asked HRC President Kelley Robinson whether she believed there was any difference between men and women \u2013 and when she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/poll-black-voters-approval-of-joe-biden-takes-28-point-plunge-in-georgia\/\" title=\"Poll: Black Voters\u2019 Approval of Joe Biden Takes 28-Point Plunge in Georgia\">failed multiple times<\/a> to answer that question, he asked why she thought women had separate sports teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">WATCH: The president of the Human Rights Campaign Kelley Robinson is unable to answer the simple question is there a difference between women and men under questioning from Sen. Ted Cruz.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iWu1WCkRgx\">pic.twitter.com\/iWu1WCkRgx<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Steve Guest (@SteveGuest) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SteveGuest\/status\/1671602710951481344?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 21, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>\u201cMs. Robinson, do you agree with Ms. [Riley] Gaines, that there\u2019s a difference between women and men?\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>Cruz asked, referencing an answer given earlier in the hearing by former NCAA champion swimmer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/what-about-us-riley-gaines-fires-back-at-sen-dick-durbin-for-bowing-to-trans-activists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Riley Gaines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the question is about trans women \u2014\u201d Robinson began, but Cruz interrupted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just asking, is there a difference between women and men?\u201d he repeated.<\/p>\n<p>Robinson evaded the question again, saying, \u201cWhat I can say is that the NCAA has rules in place, they\u2019ve had rules in place for the last decade, and when this competition \u2013\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going to try again,\u201d Cruz interjected, delivering the question once again: \u201cDo you believe there\u2019s a difference between women and men? It\u2019s a yes-no question. It \u2013 do you believe there\u2019s a difference?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I think that we\u2019re talking about this case with the NCAA \u2014\u201d Robinson continued to pivot away from the question.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I\u2019m asking a question,\u201d Cruz repeated. \u201cDo you believe there\u2019s a difference between women and men? Most people could answer this very simply, I\u2019m curious if you\u2019re willing to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, absolutely,\u201d Robinson agreed, but continued to stonewall the Texas senator, attempting to reframe the debate instead of answering the direct question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m trying to get a yes or no, I\u2019m not trying to get a speech,\u201d Cruz said as Robinson claimed that definitions with regard to sex were separate from those with regard to gender. \u201cIs there a difference between women and men?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Robinson ignored the question for a fifth time, saying again that gender had to be kept separate from sex, Cruz tried again with a different question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you\u2019re not answering that. Let me ask you this question then: why do women\u2019s sports exist?\u201d Cruz asked. \u201cIf you can\u2019t define a difference between women and men, why not abolish women\u2019s sports and tell little girls to swim with little boys and see who wins?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m simply saying that sex and gender \u2014\u201d Robinson picked up where she had left off, giving the same answers she had before, even though Cruz had changed the question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy question is why do women\u2019s sports exist?\u201d he asked again. \u201cMs. Robinson, please answer the question I\u2019m asking you: Why do women\u2019s sports exist?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Robinson dodged that direct question as well, instead saying that she believed sports, in general, were beneficial and a positive influence on all who participated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut why have a separate category for women?\u201d Cruz pressed again. \u201cIf there\u2019s no difference between women and men, why have women\u2019s sports?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m saying that there\u2019s a difference between sex and gender, and that the NCAA has rules in place, which they have for the last decade,\u201d Robinson tried again to reframe the question, but Cruz made it clear he had had enough.<\/p>\n<p>He turned to Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and asked for a <a href=\"https:\/\/law.duke.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/centers\/sportslaw\/comparingathleticperformances.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Duke University paper<\/a> to be entered into the record. The paper was titled \u201cCOMPARING ATHLETIC PERFORMANCES THE BEST ELITE WOMEN TO BOYS AND MEN.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you know sports, you know this beyond a reasonable doubt: there is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/this-is-not-equality-olympians-coaches-championship-swimmers-demand-ncaa-protect-our-women-athletes\/\" title=\"\u2018This Is Not Equality\u2019: Olympians, Coaches, Championship Swimmers Demand NCAA \u2018Protect Our Women Athletes\u2019\">average 10-12% performance gap<\/a> between elite males and elite females. The gap is smaller between elite females and non-elite males, but it\u2019s still insurmountable and that\u2019s ultimately what matters,\u201d authors Doriane Lambelet Coleman and Wickliffe Shreve wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The paper opened with two stark comparisons noting that in 2017 alone, \u201cOlympic, World, and U.S. Champion Tori Bowie\u2019s 100 meters lifetime best of 10.78 was beaten 15,000 times by men and boys.\u201d In that same year, men and boys outperformed \u201cOlympic, World, and U.S. Champion Allyson Felix\u2019s 400 meters lifetime best of 49.26.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis differential isn\u2019t the result of boys and men having a male identity, more resources, better training, or superior discipline.
