What&#8217;s even more disturbing is that she allegedly enlisted the help of her teenage daughter to dispose of the body in a gruesome fashion.<\/p>\n<p>The accused, Candace Craig, 44, and her daughter Salia Hardy, 19, were arrested on June 2 after officers visited their home in Largo, just outside of Washington, D.C., to check on the welfare of Candace&#8217;s mother, Margaret Craig, as reported by the <a href=\"http:\/\/pgpolice.blogspot.com\/2023\/06\/homicide-unit-charges-mother-daughter.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince George\u2019s County Police Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The Prince George\u2019s County Police Department\u2019s Homicide Unit charged a mother and daughter in connection with a murder inside of the family\u2019s Landover home. When officers arrived, Candace Craig allowed them access to the home to search for Margaret.<\/p>\n<p>Upon entering the basement, the officers were hit with the overwhelming stench of decomposition. The Homicide and Evidence Units were immediately notified and took over the investigation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em><strong>WARNING: The following account contains graphic details that some may find disturbing.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/news\/local\/maryland-mother-daughter-prince-georges-county-chain-saw-dismember-grandmother-burn-remains-charcoal-grill-landover-basement-murder-homicide-brush-fire-margaret-candace-craig-salia-hardy-police-crime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WJLA-TV<\/a>, court documents revealed that officers discovered blood and tissue near three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-of-horrors-cops-notice-creepy-tools-odd-smell-arrest-daughter-for-gruesome-treatment-of-mother-71\/\" title=\"Police arrest daughter for gruesome treatment of mother, 71, after discovering creepy tools and odd smell in House of Horrors.\">white plastic trash bags<\/a> in the basement. They also found what appeared to be brain matter in an open trash bag.<\/p>\n<p>Further investigation revealed a missing knife, a cover to a chainsaw, cutting utensils, cleaning materials, and blood spatter throughout the basement where the remains were found.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A mother and daughter in Prince George\u2019s County are accused of murdering their 71yr old mother\/grandmother then using a chain saw to dismember her then burn her remains on a charcoal grill. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rLX2DYzyx0\">pic.twitter.com\/rLX2DYzyx0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brad Bell (@Brad7News) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Brad7News\/status\/1665751135649447937?\">June 5, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Investigators determined that Candace Craig had murdered her mother on May 23, and the following day, her daughter Salia Hardy assisted in attempting to dispose of the remains.<\/p>\n<p>According to Prince George\u2019s County Assistant State\u2019s Attorney Jessica Garth, the mother and daughter &#8220;dismembered the body, I believe using a chain saw, and then attempted to dispose of the parts of the body using fire on a grill and in a bonfire,&#8221; as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/wtop.com\/prince-georges-county\/2023\/06\/prosecutors-woman-was-killed-dismembered-by-daughter-and-granddaughter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTOP-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>State\u2019s Attorney Aisha Braveboy expressed her horror at the crime, stating, &#8220;To say it\u2019s disturbing is an understatement. It\u2019s horrifying.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Maj.
