Version: 4.0.47--><h2>MSNBC Analyst Makes Sick Racist Tweet About Titanic Sub Disaster, Supreme Court Justice<\/h2>\n<p>For most of us paying attention to the search for the missing OceanGate Titan submarine that was carrying tourists to the wreckage of the Titanic, our thoughts and prayers were with those aboard the submarine in the vain hope they were still alive and rescuable.<\/p>\n<p>Not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-addressed-supporters-msnbc-maddow-took-humiliatingly-hypocritical-stand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MSNBC<\/a> analyst Elie Mystal, however.<\/p>\n<p>He seems to wish 1) the sub is done for, 2) there was one more person on board, and 3) that person was Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.<\/p>\n<p>In a Wednesday tweet that would have gotten an Omaha FM morning shock-jock fired but seems to have not cost Mystal his job \u2014 yet \u2014 the controversial journalist and pundit made light of the disaster, saying, \u201cNext time some rich white person wants to take Sam Alito on an expensive trip, please take him to see the Titanic.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Next time some rich white person wants to take Sam Alito on an expensive trip, please take him to see the Titanic.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elie Mystal (@ElieNYC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ElieNYC\/status\/1671540056287244289?\">June 21, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mystal\u2019s \u201cjoke,\u201d such as you may consider it humor, combined the submersible tragedy with a report from ProPublica that claimed Alito didn\u2019t disclose a fishing trip he took in Alaska 15 years ago paid for by billionaire Paul Singer.<\/p>\n<p>Alito was part of a 7-1 majority that voted in favor of Singer\u2019s hedge fund, NML Capital, in a case that involved an attempt to collect debt from the country of Argentina, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4060023-alito-propublica-report-on-luxury-vacation-misleading\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/amp\/articles\/propublica-misleads-its-readers-alito-gifts-disclosure-alaska-singer-23b51eda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> Op-Ed published Tuesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/justice-alito-claims-pretty-good-idea-dobbs-leaker-sabotage-created-rift-scotus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alito<\/a> said he had \u201cno obligation to recuse\u201d in the case and that his \u201crecollection is that I have spoken to Mr. Singer on no more than a handful of occasions, all of which (with the exception of small talk during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/justice-samuel-alito-accepted-luxury-vacation-from-billionaire-with-cases-before-supreme-court-report\/\" title=\"Justice Samuel Alito reportedly accepted luxury vacation from billionaire with cases before Supreme Court.\">fishing trip 15 years ago<\/a>) consisted of brief and casual comments at events attended by large groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Should Elie Mystal be fired?<\/h3>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\" class=\"one-half\">\n<div class=\"firefly-poll-question\">Should Elie Mystal be fired?<\/div>\n<div id=\"pollFormBox\" style=\"display: none\">\n\t\t<label>Yes<\/label><br \/>\n\t\t<label>No<\/label><br \/>\n\t\t<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-poll-disclaimer\">\n\t\tCompleting this poll entitles you to The Western Journal news updates free of charge. And as I will discuss, he allowed me to occupy what would have otherwise been an unoccupied seat on a private flight to Alaska.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was and is my judgment that these facts would not cause a reasonable and unbiased person to doubt my ability to decide the matters in question impartially.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Knowing what I know about the case as it stands, I tend to side with Alito, although I readily concede there is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-repeats-false-claim-about-ar-15-bullet-velocity-in-call-for-ban\/\" title=\"Biden Repeats False Claim About AR-15 Bullet Velocity In Call For Ban\">good-faith argument<\/a> to be made for the other side.<\/p>\n<p>You know what isn\u2019t a good-faith response to ProPublica\u2019s report, however? \u201cHey, you know that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/titanic-sub-ceo-admitted-hired-diversity-shunned-50-year-old-white-guys-military-experience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tourist submarine that\u2019s lost in the Atlantic<\/a>? You know, the one where there\u2019s a high likelihood the passengers are dead? Heck, he hasn\u2019t even deleted the tweet.<\/p>\n<p>Mystal, granted, has a history of what can charitably be called hot takes.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s referred to the Constitution as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/shapiro-tells-view-guest-exactly-calling-constitution-trash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trash<\/a>\u201c; said after Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/msnbc-hosts-meltdown-just-begging-defamation-suit-rittenhouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this kind of white supremacy<\/a> was \u201cthe modern Republican Party\u201d and that a \u201cmajority of white people are in favor of this kind of violence\u201d; and belittled GOP Georgia senatorial candidate Herschel Walker, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/negroes-msnbc-guest-says-republicans-want-black-candidates-lack-independent-thoughts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claiming Walker<\/a> was \u201cgonna do what he\u2019s told\u201d because that\u2019s \u201cwhat Republicans want from their negroes: To do what they\u2019re told. And Walker presents exactly as a person who lacks independent thoughts, lacks an independent agenda, lacks an independent ability to grasp policies, and he\u2019s just going to go in there and vote like Mitch McConnell tells him to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That being said, none of these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/msnbc-analyst-makes-sick-racist-tweet-about-titanic-sub-disaster-supreme-court-justice\/\" title=\"MSNBC analyst's racist tweet on Titanic sub incident and Supreme Court Justice is appalling.\">dumpster-fire remarks involved actively wishing death<\/a> upon another human being, especially a Supreme Court justice. Which, let\u2019s face it, is what Mystal is doing: While their fate was unknown Thursday morning, if the people aboard the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/millionaire-adventurer-supposed-missing-titanic-sub-backed-seeing-troubling-risks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OceanGate Titan<\/a> are found alive after the vessel went missing on Sunday, it\u2019ll be a miracle. And if Alito were aboard, one gets the distinct feeling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/msnbc-host-commentator-preposterous-reaction-gop-presidents-day-meme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mystal<\/a> would be disappointed in said miracle.<\/p>\n<p>And no, this isn\u2019t just \u201ccan\u2019t you take a joke\u201d territory. This isn\u2019t wishing cancel culture upon someone for making a funny. For one thing, Mystal isn\u2019t a comedian, he\u2019s a political writer and commentator with significant clout on the left. If you don\u2019t see the difference between him and an edgy comedian, it\u2019s because you do not <em>wish<\/em> to see the difference between him and an edgy comedian.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the incident comes just a year after a man was charged with attempted murder in what was allegedly a plot to kill Supreme Court Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/maher-blasts-nyt-coverage-kavanaugh-murder-plot-uses-show-wage-war\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brett Kavanaugh<\/a>, spurred on by the leaked draft decision in the case that overturned Roe v. Wade.<\/p>\n<p>While, admittedly, the method of assassination proposed by Mystal is a bit too elaborate for plausibility, what he\u2019s doing here is devaluing the life of a Supreme Court justice. Who cares? After all, Sam\u2019s getting up there \u2014 and President Joe Biden gets to nominate his replacement, nudge nudge, wink wink.<\/p>\n<p>The moment this tweet came to the attention of his superiors, Mystal should have been summarily terminated from his positions at MSNBC and The Nation.
