The Strauses were some of the wealthiest passengers aboard the Titanic when it sank in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hispanic-world-celebrates-dia-de-los-reyes-christian-feast-of-the-magi\/\" title=\"Hispanic World Celebrates Dia de los Reyes, Christian Feast of the Magi\">icy waters<\/a> of the North Atlantic in 1912, and their love story was even featured for a brief moment in James Cameron\u2019s 1997 blockbuster film.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wendy Rush, born Wendy Weil, is descended from one of Isidor and Ida\u2019s seven children, Minnie. Minnie\u2019s grandson, Dr. Richard Weil III, is Rush\u2019s father, according to Joan Adler, the executive director of the Straus Historical Society, the Times reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Isidor Straus was an American Jewish businessman who co-owned Macy\u2019s department store with his brother and briefly served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Survivors of the Titanic sinking said they saw Isidor refuse to enter a lifeboat, making sure women and children took priority over him. Ida is said to have stayed by her husband\u2019s side, refusing to leave him as the ship sank. The couple was reportedly last seen standing arm in arm as the Titanic went under the ocean\u2019s surface.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1687352286746000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2XxW0VTdKx-2nQAhkiTR8M\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the \u201cTitanic\u201d film, a fictionalized version of Isidor and Ida\u2019s story shows an older couple holding each other in bed as water pours into the ship and the orchestra plays \u201cNearer My God To Thee.\u201d While the Strauses are not named in the film, the couple is mentioned in the credits, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/meet-isidor-and-ida-straus-the-old-couple-in-titanic-2023-4#in-a-deleted-scene-the-woman-tells-her-husband-that-she-wont-get-on-a-lifeboat-without-him-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to Insider.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Desperate Search for the Missing Submersible<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to Coast Guard estimates, the OceanGate submersible will run out of oxygen Thursday morning as an international search continues for the vessel that went missing on June 19.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A Canadian airplane picked up the \u201cunderwater noises\u201d on Tuesday, resulting in the search team focusing their operation on the area where the sounds came from, according to U.S. Coast Guard Captain Jamie Frederick. There are five \u201csurface assets\u201d and two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/authorities-dont-know-whats-causing-underwater-banging-as-experts-rush-to-determine-if-sounds-came-from-titanic-sub\/\" title=\"Authorities are unsure about the cause of underwater banging as experts investigate if the sounds originated from the Titanic submarine.\">remotely operated vehicles searching<\/a> for the submersible, the Titan. Five more assets are expected to join the search, Frederick said, according to the Times.
