Their ages ranged from 17 to 20.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/defund-police-failure-minneapolis-residents-taking-matters-hands-amid-crime-surge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Police<\/a> have reported that Thompson was traveling at over 90 mph at the time of the collision and ran a red light.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson allegedly fled the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended, arrested, hospitalized, and subsequently released.<\/p>\n<h3>Potential Murder Charges<\/h3>\n<p>Hennepin County District Attorney Mary Moriarty is currently considering charging Thompson with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/murder-case-15-years-ago-goes-cold-police-receive-call-changes-everything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have also revealed that Thompson had his driver&#8217;s license revoked in the past, but it was reinstated just two weeks before the tragic crash.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Thompson was recently released from prison in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/retailers-horrified-radical-bill-passes-california-senate-warn-will-open-doors-shoplifters-loot-indiscriminately\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">California<\/a> after being involved in a 2018 incident in Montecito where he struck another motorist, leaving them in a coma, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/keyt.com\/news\/crime\/2023\/06\/19\/driver-suspected-in-deadly-minnesota-crash-convicted-in-montecito-accident-five-years-ago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KEYT-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson fled to Minnesota following the incident but was later extradited back to California and sentenced to eight years in prison. John Thompson.<\/p>\n<p>The elder Thompson <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/John_Thompson_(Minnesota)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lost<\/a> to his primary opponent Liz Lee by nearly 78 points last August after allegations surfaced that he had engaged in years of pattern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-nominee-ice-director-withdraws-domestic-violence-allegation-stalls-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">domestic violence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox9.com\/news\/search-for-minnesota-lawmakers-residency-uncovers-domestic-assault-cases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KMSP-TV<\/a> reported that the former lawmaker was accused of punching and choking numerous women from 2003 to 2009, with some instances occurring in the presence of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-disney-character-seems-provocatively-dance-children-pride-night-parade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">children<\/a>. Thompson even ran from the police following one incident of domestic abuse.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, he was accused of exposing his genitals to two young children during an altercation with a girlfriend.
