Pogue was one of the few initially offered the opportunity to make the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ca-governor-breaks-his-own-covid-rules-to-eat-fancy-french-food\/\" title=\"Ca. There\u2019s not much you can do if something goes wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Pogue previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/titanic-visiting-the-most-famous-shipwreck-in-the-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">described<\/a> the paperwork in more detail, stating, \u201cIf all went well, I would be spending about 12 hours sealed inside on a dive to the Titanic. Not gonna lie; I was a little nervous, especially given the paperwork, which read, \u2018This experimental vessel has not been approved or certified by any regulatory body, and could result in physical injury, emotional trauma, or death.\u2019 <em>Where do I sign?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>During the journey, Pogue commented on the submersible&#8217;s construction, saying, \u201cIt seems like this submersible has some elements of MacGyver jerry-riggedness. I mean, you\u2019re putting construction pipes as ballast.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if I\u2019d use that description of it. But, there are certain things that you want to be buttoned down,\u201d replied OceanGate CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/boss-of-titanic-sub-company-didnt-want-50-year-old-white-guys-on-his-team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stockton Rush<\/a>. \u201cThe pressure vessel is not MacGyver at all, because that\u2019s where we worked with Boeing and NASA and the University of Washington. Everything else can fail, your thrusters can go, your lights can go. After rough waters prevented the trip to the Titanic, the CBS crew was offered a dive to the Continental Shelf to see shark breeding grounds. However, once the submersible was in the water, things did not go as planned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur dive in the OceanGate submersible had made it down only 37 feet when floats came off the platform. And that wasn\u2019t supposed to happen. The mission was scrubbed,\u201d he recalled. \u201cI was crushed.
