Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) and his role in developing the atomic bomb, which was infamously used to end World War II. \u201cLike it or not, J. Robert Oppenheimer is the most important person who ever lived. He made the world we live in, for better or for worse,\u201d Nolan told the crowd at CinemaCon in April.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/entertainment\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">director<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> also described the film as a \u201cwild ride\u201d which explored \u201cliterally the most dramatic moment in history\u201d during an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/christopher-nolan-oppenheimer-ai-apocalypse\/\">Wired<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nolan noted that some viewers liken the film to the \u201chorror\u201d genre.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cSome people leave the movie absolutely devastated. They can\u2019t speak. I mean, there\u2019s an element of fear that\u2019s there in the history and there in the underpinnings. But the love of the characters, the love of the relationships, is as strong as I\u2019ve ever done,\u201d Nolan said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI showed it to a filmmaker recently who said it\u2019s kind of a horror movie,\u201d he continued. \u201cI don\u2019t disagree\u2026As I started to finish the film, I started to feel this color that\u2019s not in my other films, just darkness. It\u2019s there. The film fights against that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s a complicated set of feelings to be entertained by awful things, you know? Impossible ethical dilemmas, paradox. There are no easy answers in his story,\u201d Nolan said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere are just difficult questions, and that\u2019s what makes the story so compelling. I think we were able to find a lot of things to be optimistic about in the film, genuinely, but there\u2019s this sort of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/early-reviewers-of-atomic-bomb-movie-oppenheimer-left-feeling-absolutely-devastated\/\" title=\"Early viewers of the atomic bomb movie 'Oppenheimer' were left feeling utterly devastated.\">overriding bigger question<\/a> that hangs over it.
