Unless, of course, that white person is Hunter Biden, then it\u2019s perfectly OK.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the Justice Department reached a sweetheart deal with the president\u2019s son on gun and tax charges, leading to the 53-year-old Biden pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges that put him on probation for failing to pay federal taxes and into a diversionary program for lying to on a form to buy a gun, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/federal-charges-against-hunter-biden-2023-06-20\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This means that the president\u2019s son, a polysubstance abuser for long periods of his life who lied about being a drug addict in order to get a firearm, won\u2019t go to prison for the crime. This didn\u2019t sit well with the lawyer for rapper Kodak Black, a rapper who was sentenced to nearly four years for committing a crime materially similar to the one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/former-federal-prosecutor-reveals-doj-violating-policies-hunter-biden-plea-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hunter Biden<\/a> is walking free on.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/06\/20\/rapper-kodak-blacks-lawyer-decries-2-tiers-of-justice-after-hunter-biden-plea-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>, the Grammy nominee \u2014 real name Bill Kapri \u2014 was sentenced to three years in 2019 after pleading guilty to providing an incorrect Social Security number on a federal form to purchase a gun.<\/p>\n<p>Black\u2019s criminal history would have precluded him from legally buying a weapon. He was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison; the rapper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/01\/20\/arts\/music\/trump-pardons-lil-wayne-kodak-black.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">received a pardon<\/a> from former President Donald Trump on Trump\u2019s final day in office.<\/p>\n<p>However, the double standard infuriated the rapper\u2019s lawyer, Bradford Cohen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c2 tiers of justice? Kodak was charged for the same crime. Got over 3 years. Mr. Biden will not serve a day. Feels right? During a 2018 firearm purchase, Hunter filled out a federal form that required him to legally swear that he was not an addicted or unlawful user of a controlled substance. Unsurprisingly, he lied: Hunter himself all but admitted it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-make-cruel-statement-stockings-wh-fireplace-second-year-row\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in his memoir<\/a>, in which he described that period of his life as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-joe-biden-tearfully-pleading-hunter-reveals-awareness-crack-fueled-meltdown-firearm-purchase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a drug-fueled blur<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Hunter\u2019s romantic partner at the time \u2014 the widow of his older brother, Beau \u2014 would later throw the gun in a dumpster, leading to the potential that the firearm could have been picked up by heaven-knows-who. (It wasn\u2019t, thankfully, although allegations that the Secret Service was involved in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-secret-service-intervened-bizarre-hunter-biden-gun-incident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">helping locate it<\/a> didn\u2019t help matters any.)<\/p>\n<p>Kodak Black\u2019s attorney wasn\u2019t the only one ripping the plea deal apart; at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/the-intentionally-provocative-hunter-biden-plea-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Review<\/a>, former federal prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy also blasted the deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder Justice Department policy, even with a plea agreement, the government is supposed to seek a plea to the \u2018most serious,\u2019 readily provable \u2018offense that is consistent with the nature and full extent of the defendant\u2019s conduct,&#8217;\u201d McCarthy wrote Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHunter Biden committed tax offenses that could have been charged as evasion, which is punishable by up to five years\u2019 imprisonment for each count. Furthermore, he made a false statement that enabled him to obtain a firearm; that\u2019s a ten-year felony under legislation pushed through by then-senator Joe Biden to show how very serious Democrats are about gun crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden apologists have tried to minimize that transaction as a \u2018lie and try\u2019 case, which they say is often not prosecuted. But such non-prosecution (though it shouldn\u2019t happen) occurs because of what you\u2019d infer from the \u2018try\u2019 part \u2014 i.e., the liar got caught and failed to obtain the gun. Hunter\u2019s case, to the contrary, is a <em>lie and succeed<\/em> case. He got the gun.\u201d [Emphasis in original.]\n<p>And then it found its way <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-release-blood-boiling-statement-hunter-agrees-plea-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">into a dumpster<\/a>. But Hunter Biden is <em>useful<\/em> to them. At least for a few more years, it behooves the left to pretend he\u2019s not corrupt or criminal \u2014 or, at least, not\u00a0<em>that<\/em> corrupt or criminal.<\/p>\n<p>Do Messrs. Cohen and Black think they\u2019re going to shame the left into abiding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/maye-musk-uses-1-tweet-beat-nyt-white-privilege-hit-piece-son-elon-musk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by their own standards<\/a> when covering up Biden family criminality is at stake?
