This is a team that has a very specific task: to pull together real reforms right now.\u201d So, serious stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/obamawhitehouse.archives.gov\/blog\/2013\/01\/10\/vice-president-biden-meets-groups-discuss-violence-prevention\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">met<\/a> with victims\u2019 groups and gun control groups at the White House. He conducted conference calls with \u201cgovernors of both parties, and state and local elected leaders.\u201d He took all their best ideas and wrote up his suggestions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow is the Time: The President\u2019s plan to protect our children and our communities by reducing gun violence\u201d was a <a href=\"https:\/\/obamawhitehouse.archives.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/docs\/wh_now_is_the_time_full.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">15-page proposal<\/a> that features all the well-worn \u2014 and often unconstitutional and\/or ineffective \u2014 proposals we\u2019d been debating for 20 years. The one conspicuous difference was the report\u2019s heavy focus on mental health as a contributing factor to gun violence, something leading gun restrictionist Chris Murphy now calls \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/25\/dont-surrender-to-do-somethingism-on-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bullsh-t<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In any event, in the second section, the Biden proposal says (emphasis added to the last line):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lawmakers-investigate-biden-admin-over-database-containing-one-billion-gun-sale-records\/\" title=\"Lawmakers Investigate Biden Admin Over Database Containing One Billion Gun Sale Records\">prosecute gun crime<\/a><\/strong>: The Attorney General will work with all United States Attorneys to continue to ensure that every appropriate resource is focused on preventing gun violence. To this end, the Attorney General will ask all U.S. Attorneys to consider whether supplemental efforts would be appropriate in their districts, in areas such as prosecutions of people who have been convicted of a felony and illegally seek to obtain a firearm, <strong>or people who attempt to evade the background check system by providing false information.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a Google \u201cfireside chat\u201d at the time, Biden noted that it was vital to \u201cenforce the existing laws we have\u201d and repeated numerous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?time_continue=1731&#038;v=7LYlkknrku4&#038;embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fobamawhitehouse.archives.gov%2F&#038;embeds_referring_origin=https%3A%2F%2Fobamawhitehouse.archives.gov&#038;feature=emb_logo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">times<\/a> the importance of shoring up background checks. Obama would come back to Biden\u2019s reform suggestions on numerous occasions over the years, <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7news.com\/news\/obama-considers-executive-action-on-gun-background-checks\/1024798\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">promising<\/a> to look into \u201cwhat kinds of authorities do we have to enforce the laws that we have in place more effectively to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Considering Biden\u2019s passionate advocacy for prosecuting those who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-once-recommended-more-prosecutions-for-those-who-lie-on-background-checks-has-he-changed-his-mind\/\" title=\"Did Joe Biden change his stance on prosecuting those who lie on background checks?\">evade existing gun laws<\/a>, why does he believe there was \u201cjustice\u201d in Hunter\u2019s case? An intrepid reporter might want to ask him if he believes someone who brandishes an illegally obtained gun while on crack \u2014 and then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/03\/25\/sources-secret-service-inserted-itself-into-case-of-hunter-bidens-gun-477879\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attempts<\/a> to dump that weapon in a garbage bin a few feet from a high school \u2014 deserves to walk away without any criminal record? Does that comport with his previous recommendations?
