The U.K.\u2019s National Health Service for England now curtails the use of puberty blockers, limiting their use to clinical trials in most cases.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThese countries have done systematic reviews of evidence,\u201d Leor Sapir of the Manhattan Institute think tank, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-becomes-transgender-care-outlier-as-more-in-europe-urge-caution-6c70b5e0?mod=hp_lead_pos4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal.<\/a> \u201cThey\u2019ve found that the studies cited to support these medical interventions are too unreliable, and the risks are too serious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Canada, Spain, and Australia still allow puberty blockers for children, although pushback is growing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s beneficial to see European countries coming to their senses,\u201d Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) stated, adding of Republicans, \u201cThis is the issue of our time. This is a hill we\u2019re gonna die on.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Supporting the Child&#8217;s Exploration of Gender Identity<\/h3>\n<p>At the annual meeting of the American Medical Association, delegates approved a resolution that was co-sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology that stated, \u201cWhen young children experience feelings that their gender identity does not match the sex recorded at birth, the first course of action is to support the child in exploring their gender identity \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crenshaw <a href=\"https:\/\/crenshaw.house.gov\/2023\/6\/crenshaw-leads-effort-to-block-program-funding-for-children-s-hospitals-that-transition-minors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">authored a bill<\/a> titled \u201cThe Children\u2019s Hospital GME Support Reauthorization Act\u201d that would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/americans-remember-the-48th-annual-march-for-life\/\" title=\"Americans remember the 48th annual March for Life\">block federal funding<\/a> for children\u2019s hospitals that provide transgender treatments or procedures to minors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/4-lies-the-media-is-telling-about-abortion-and-pro-life-americans\/\" title=\"4\u00a0Lies The Media Is Telling About Abortion (And Pro-Life Americans)\">human rights atrocity<\/a> in America that is so <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/banking-crisis-growing-biden-admin-picking-winners-losers\/\" title=\"Banking Crisis Growing \u2013 Biden Admin Picking Winners\/Losers\">quickly gaining momentum<\/a> and validation within the very institutions that should know better,\u201d he stated. \u201cOne of these institutions is children\u2019s hospitals. In a place where \u2018do no harm\u2019 is the ultimate guiding principle, there is no excuse to ever perform these treatments that permanently alter a child\u2019s physiology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Crenshaw grilled Yale School of Medicine assistant professor Meredithe McNamara, who had accused Crenshaw of having \u201ccherry-picked\u201d data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is very unscientific and flawed to pick a single study or a single statistic and discuss it in isolation,\u201d McNamara declared. \u201cMedical experts are able to talk about all of the evidence as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTotally agree,\u201d Crenshaw responded. \u201cIt\u2019s good to look at systematic reviews, right? That\u2019s the gold standard of evidence when you\u2019re trying to understand whether something works or it doesn\u2019t. So the British Journal of Medicine looked at 61 systematic reviews with the conclusion that,\u201d \u2018There is great uncertainty about the effects of puberty blockers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/very-complicated-dr-rachel-levine-dodges-sen-pauls-issue-about-sex-adjustments-for-children\/\" title=\"\u2018Very Complicated\u2019: Dr. Rachel Levine Dodges Sen. Paul\u2019s Issue About Sex Adjustments For Children\">cross-sex hormones<\/a> and surgeries in young people.\u2019 The Journal of the Endocrine Society came up with the same conclusion, even the American Academy of Pediatrics. They all cite the lack of evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re doing a therapy, and it\u2019s temporary, fine, whatever, maybe let\u2019s try it and see if it works,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut when you\u2019re talking about permanent physiological changes, do you not agree, just from an ethical standpoint, that you might want extremely strong evidence of the benefits? There is no systematic review that states that there is strong evidence of benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSir, are you aware of how the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-medical-community-splitting-from-the-west-on-puberty-blockers-for-children\/\" title=\"U.S. medical community diverging from West on child puberty blockers.\">quality evidence grading system works<\/a> and how it\u2019s applied?\u201d McNamara said archly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah. Yeah, we\u2019ve read through it,\u2019 Crenshaw replied. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m citing these journals. So which journal says something different? We should have that debate. Tell me a journal that has done systematic reviews that cites different evidence, that cites strong evidence of benefits for these therapies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe standards of care were developed based on extensive\u2014\u201d McNamara began.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re not telling me any journal; You\u2019re not telling me any study, don\u2019t say \u2018standards of care,\u2019\u201d Crenshaw interrupted. \u201cTell me one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, um, the standards of care,\u201d McNamara repeated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s not a journal, that\u2019s not a study. That\u2019s not an organization. That\u2019s not an institution. You\u2019re just saying words.
