Byard\u2019s statement said there was \u201cno threat to the student body\u201d even though in reality, the rapist was at large at the time, and the disruptive parent was Scott Smith, the victim\u2019s father, who was angry to hear of his daughter\u2019s rape.<\/p>\n<p>Byard told the grand jury that Stone Bridge Principal Tim Flynn only told him of a disruptive parent. But Flynn told a jury of Loudoun residents on Tuesday that he was positive he called Byard and \u201ctold him everything\u201d and that \u201cthis is bad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a female student who alleged she was raped in the bathroom. \u2026 Wayde needs to know all the info so he can do his job,\u201d he testified.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire broke the story of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/loudoun-county-schools-tried-to-conceal-sexual-assault-against-daughter-in-bathroom-father-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rape coverup<\/a> in October 2021, triggering a grand jury investigation ordered by Governor Glenn Youngkin, who won election the next month. The story recounted how at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/felony-trial-for-loudoun-schools-spokesman-begins-over-rape-coverup\/\" title=\"Loudoun Schools Spokesman Faces Felony Trial for Concealing Rape\">school board meeting shortly<\/a> after the rape, where then-Superintendent Scott Ziegler was pushing a new policy to allow transgender students to use the bathroom, he falsely said there had never been a sexual assault in a bathroom. The victim\u2019s father was arrested for disorderly conduct after getting angry again, while the rapist was quietly transferred to a new school.<\/p>\n<p>Byard was placed on leave from his job after being indicted, but prosecutors said Tuesday that the school system will likely reinstate him if he is acquitted. His boss, Director of Communications Joan Salgren, testified Tuesday, acknowledging she refused to meet with prosecutors and saying that she was \u201cinstructed\u201d to try to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/loudoun-school-board-sues-to-shut-down-grand-jury-investigating-rape-cover-up\">push back<\/a> against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-education-sec-on-womens-school-sports-we-have-a-legal-responsibility-to-include-transgender-athletes\/\" title=\"Biden Education Sec On Women\u2019s School Sports: We Have a \u2018Legal Responsibility\u2019 to Include Transgender Athletes\">executive order calling<\/a> for an investigation into the school system.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Loudoun County Public Schools\u2019 efforts to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/loudoun-school-board-sues-to-shut-down-grand-jury-investigating-rape-cover-up\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shut down<\/a> the grand jury, Ziegler was later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/loudoun-superintendent-spokesman-criminally-indicted-in-rape-coverup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">charged<\/a> with misdemeanors and is set to face trial in September. The prosecutions are helmed by special prosecutor Theo Stamos, a former Democratic prosecutor from Arlington who lost her position in 2019 when, like in Loudoun County, a far-left prosecutor replaced her with the help more than half a million dollars from George Soros.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Stamos said in opening arguments that Byard and Salgren worked together to craft the statement, alongside Ziegler and Deputy Superintendent Ashley Ellis. \u201cEllis will say the only reason she was involved was because of the allegation of sexual assault. Disruptive parents happen all the time,\u201d Stamos said.<\/p>\n<p>She said the statement was designed to say \u201cNothing to see here, move along,\u201d even as top officials worried about the impact of the rape of a child on a preferred policy initiative. She said Zeigler, Ellis, and Salgren had a call that day where \u201cthe purpose was because as info emerged, another fact emerged which was the subject was wearing a skirt, and that fact impacted a policy then in the formative stages\u2026 In that call, Flynn used the phrases <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-and-media-enablers-are-overlooking-child-sex-crimes-to-protect-ketanji-brown-jackson\/\" title=\"Democrats And Media Enablers Are Overlooking Child Sex Crimes To Protect Ketanji Brown Jackson\">anal penetration<\/a> and rape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe evidence will show that the defendant resolved to lie. \u2026 The lies get to the heart of what the grand jury was investigating,\u201d Stamos said.<\/p>\n<p>Byard\u2019s attorney, Jennifer Leffler, called Byard the \u201cfall guy,\u201d and attempted to raise questions about the credibility of both Flynn and the rape victim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAshley Ellis took notes and he did say anal penetration but he didn\u2019t say nonconsensual,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have a phone call\u201d she said, but no emails where Flynn told Byard in writing about the rape, though he did so to other Loudoun officials. \u201cI\u2019ll tell you who has a motivation to lie: Tim Flynn,\u201d Leffler said. \u201cHe has met with prosecutors at least two times. He\u2019s refused to meet with me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stamos said as the trial continues, \u201cI\u2019ll explain to you why that is\u201d that Byard is missing from \u201cemails with the phrase anal rape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Byard previously unsuccessfully sought to change the venue of the trial to Fairfax County, a more liberal jurisdiction, to which prosecutors responded that \u201cwithout a scintilla of the required evidence,\u201d he was claiming \u201cthat none of Loudoun County\u2019s 55,000+ jurors are unbiased enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rape coverup has shaped Virginia politics for two years, and in more than one way: the judge adjourned promptly at 5 p.m. on Tuesday so jurors had the opportunity to vote in the primary election for prosecutor, where Elizabeth Lancaster, a feminist attorney who represented the rape victim, is seeking to unseat Buta Biberaj, who tried to put the victim\u2019s father in jail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A principal in Loudoun County, Virginia testified against former school spokesman Wayde Byard in a perjury trial.
