Version: 4.0.47--><div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"aplayer_app\" data-source=\"https:\/\/vs1.youmaker.com\/assets\/2023\/0620\/d2ff9ba0-95e0-48b5-8a7e-ee4d43b2842d\/audio.mp3?length=5036013&#038;duration=420\"><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<h2>The White House Responds to Hunter Biden&#8217;s Guilty Plea<\/h2>\n<p>The White House has issued a response to President Joe Biden\u2019s son Hunter Biden\u2019s guilty plea to federal crimes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President and First Lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life,\u201d White House spokesperson Ian Sams told The Epoch Times in an email. \u201cWe will have no further comment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden has agreed to plead guilty to intentionally failing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/more-than-50-of-u-s-households-paid-no-federal-income-taxes-in-2021\/\" title=\"More Than 50% of U.S. Households Paid No Federal Income Taxes in 2021\">pay federal income tax<\/a>, U.S. Attorney David Weiss said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23854060-weissman-letter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a letter<\/a> to the U.S. court in Delaware.<\/p>\n<p>The law in question prohibits the willful failure to pay taxes or file tax returns.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden also struck a deal with prosecutors relating to a felony gun charge.<\/p>\n<p>His attorney, Christopher Clark, said in a statement to media outlets that <strong>\u201cHunter will take responsibility for two instances of misdemeanor failure to file tax payments when due pursuant to a plea agreement.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Clark clarified that the firearms charge is not part of the plea agreement but will instead be subject to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-responds-to-hunter-biden-guilty-plea\/\" title=\"White House addresses Hunter Biden's guilty plea.\">separate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/justice-department-charges-hunter-biden\/\" title=\"Justice Department charges Hunter Biden\">pretrial diversion agreement<\/a><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Under a pretrial diversion agreement, defendants could get charges dismissed or face lighter punishment if they meet certain criteria.<\/p>\n<p>A memorandum detailing the terms of the plea deal \u201cwill be submitted at or in advance of the hearing,\u201d which is expected in the coming days, per Weiss\u2019 letter.<\/p>\n<p>The plea deal must still be approved by a federal judge.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the two tax charges carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison while the gun charge carries up to 10 years behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>Unconfirmed reports citing anonymous sources say that prosecutors will likely recommend probation instead of jail time on the tax charges.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018I Trust Him\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>In the weeks leading up to Hunter Biden\u2019s plea deal, rumors swirled that the president\u2019s son would soon face charges.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. attorney\u2019s office in Delaware has been investigating Hunter Biden\u2019s tax affairs. The president\u2019s son said in 2020 that he was taking the investigation \u201cseriously\u201d but was confident of a favorable outcome.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI take this matter very seriously, but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,\u201d Hunter Biden said in a statement issued by the Biden-Harris transition team in December 2020.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jake-tapper-notes-hunter-biden-investigation-lara-trump-fires-glad-you-finally-figured-that-out\/\" title=\"Jake Tapper Notes Hunter Biden Investigation; Lara Trump Fires: \u2018Glad You Finally Figured That Out\u2019\">transition team issued<\/a> a statement describing the president-elect as \u201cdeeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges\u201d from which he has emerged \u201cstronger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden had acknowledged in the past that he made mistakes, but insisted that he hadn\u2019t committed any crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Several weeks ago, the president was asked during an interview on MSNBC what impact there would be on the Biden presidency if Hunter Biden were to be federally charged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt impacts my presidency by making me feel proud of him,\u201d Biden said in the interview.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed confidence that his son had \u201cdone nothing wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Details of Charges<\/h2>\n<p>Hunter Biden has agreed to plead guilty to two counts of failing to file and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-brags-americans-can-pay-for-more-expensive-thanksgiving-with-government-handouts\/\" title=\"White House Brags Americans Can Pay for More Expensive Thanksgiving with Government Handouts\">pay federal income taxes<\/a> on time in 2017 and 2018.<\/p>\n<p>He received more than $1.5 million in taxable income in 2017 and more than $1.5 million more in 2018, according to court documents filed Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He was legally required to pay more than $100,000 in income tax for his earnings each of those years but he \u201cdid willfully fail\u201d to pay the tax.<\/p>\n<p>Both counts are misdemeanors with a possible penalty of up to one year in prison for each.<\/p>\n<p>No court dates have been scheduled as of yet, according to the court docket.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden also faces a separate charge for buying a handgun illegally in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>An indictment states that Hunter Biden, in 2018, \u201cknowing that he was<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The White House responded to Hunter Biden&#8217;s guilty plea, stating that President Joe Biden and the First Lady love and support their son as he rebuilds his life.
