Trump and others decried the agreement for letting Hunter Biden off easy.<\/p>\n<p>In a <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>post on his Truth Social platform on June 20, Trump said the Department of Justice gave the president\u2019s son a free pass.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWow! The corrupt Biden DOJ just cleared up hundreds of years of criminal liability by giving Hunter Biden a mere \u2018traffic ticket.\u2019 Our system is BROKEN!\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are going wild over the Hunter Biden Scam with the DOJ!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/08\/23\/GettyImages-1242488276.jpeg\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden (L) waves alongside his son Hunter Biden after attending mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Johns Island, S.C., on Aug. 13, 2022. (Nicholas Kamm\/AFP via Getty Images)In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23854021-hunter-biden-letter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an agreement made public Tuesday,<\/a> Biden will avoid prosecution for illegally possessing a firearm if he admits to charges involving tax filings.<\/p>\n<p>A White House spokesman said that President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden \u201clove their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life.\u201d No further comments will be made, the spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher Clark, a lawyer for Hunter Biden, said: \u201cI know Hunter believes it is important to take responsibility for these mistakes he made during a period of turmoil and addiction in his life. He looks forward to continuing his recovery and moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump and others had previously claimed that Hunter Biden, who has been under investigation for years, would receive special treatment because of his father\u2019s status as the current U.S. president and former vice president.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 federal charges involving classified documents. In March, he pleaded not guilty to 34 business records charges in a New York state court. Trump pleaded not guilty in both unprecedented cases.<\/p>\n<p>Additional charges could be filed against the former president in pending investigations in Georgia and Washington; both probes involve fallout from Trump\u2019s challenge of the 2020 election results.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Sweetheart Deal?\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Several prominent Republicans described the agreement with Biden\u2019s son as a \u201csweetheart deal.\u201d If a judge follows prosecutors&#8217; recommendations, it may result in no jail time for Hunter Biden, 53.<\/p>\n<p>The misdemeanor offenses involving tax filings and weapons violations would be minor when stacked against allegations concerning the Biden family\u2019s multimillion-dollar dealings with foreign interests. Congressional probes into those allegations of influence peddling are continuing.<\/p>\n<p>Under the headline, \u201cPresident Trump Was Right,\u201d the Trump campaign issued a statement showing that the former president recently predicted leniency for Hunter Biden. \u201cThey\u2019ll hit Hunter with something small to make their strike on me look \u2018fair,&#8217;\u201d Trump said in a June 6 Truth Social <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/110497189450430928\">post.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4870852\" style=\"width: 6000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/11\/17\/GettyImages-1431862330-1200x800.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a> Former Chief of Staff to the Department of Defense Kash Patel speaks during a campaign rally at Minden-Tahoe Airport in Minden, Nevada, on Oct. 08, 2022.
