Biden\u2019s plea deal on the tax charge brings an end to a five-year investigation that has probed Biden\u2019s business dealings in China, Ukraine, and elsewhere. The U.S. attorney\u2019s office in Delaware opened an investigation into Biden in 2018. The investigation had stalled, leading to allegations from IRS whistleblowers that President Joe Biden&#8217;s Justice Department had stymied the probe for political reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Clark, an attorney for Hunter Biden, said in a statement that he believes the federal investigation against his client is now &#8220;resolved.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hunter will take responsibility for two instances of misdemeanor failure to file tax payments when due pursuant to a plea agreement,&#8221; Clark said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/06\/20\/hunter-biden-to-plead-guilty-to-federal-criminal-tax-charges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A firearm charge, which will be subject to a pretrial diversion agreement and will not be the subject of the plea agreement, will also be filed by the Government,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I know Hunter believes it is important to take responsibility for these mistakes he made during a period of turmoil and addiction in his life. He bought the gun while <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/inside-the-whirlwind-48-hours-before-hunter-biden-bought-his-handgun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">addicted to drugs<\/a>, which is illegal under federal law.<\/p>\n<p>The relatively light charges are certain to frustrate Republicans investigating the Biden family\u2019s foreign business dealings.
